“To tell you the truth, Dave, we’re not worried about it. I think it’s pretty unfortunate that any business thinks they can bully us.” – John Grebert, Exec. Director, New York Assn. of State Chiefs of Police in Some gun makers try to keep their guns out of police hands [via marketplace.org]
Because politicians don’t bully their constituent citizens and businesses. FOAD.
If your a promoter and supporter of anti-gun initiatives and your a cop, your a dirty, filthy, traitorous pig and I hope you die.
Well, Dave, we already *know* what’s best for everyone, so when businesses disagree with us due to their childish obsession with freedom, well, we call that bullying.
That’s right, if there is anyone who is going to be the bully, it will be the police and the politicians and nobody will do a better job than them — FOAD! Last I checked businesses can sell to who they want the way they want. Its a free market, you are free to purchase from someone else if you don’t like it. It bears repeating –FOAD
“I think it’s pretty unfortunate that any business thinks they can bully us.” – John Grebert, Exec. Director, New York Assn. of State Chiefs of Police
But it’s okay for law enforcement and government to bully the citizens. Do these guys ever hear themselves?
I thought this was more telling of the mindset:
Because people in law enforcement deal with criminals every day, Grebert thinks they have, “a greater right” to weapons, “to deal with potentially violent situations.
I should move to NY, apparently neither criminals nor violence are experienced daily by the residents there.
“…a greater right…”
Fundamental misunderstanding of the Second Amendment.
Individuals with the mindset of Mr. Grebert appear to abound in the law enforcement community.
When he uses the word “right” he is using the brain washed, political, emotional, democratic liberal dogma definition, the
egotistical (I wear badge, therefore I am automatically better than you) definition and not the constitution definitions of rights.
There are good and bad cops and this guy fits in the later group
Well of course he needs the guns more than I do. I don’t spend my days intimidating and showing my power to people. And that’s all they’re good for, right?
So it’s “unfortunate” that businesses are standing up to the lawmakers but he has no problems with lawmakers stripping citizens of their rights? That chump clearly is not cut out to be a police officer as he has zero respect for the 2nd Amendment.

Cops are like politicians – those who want the job are rarely the people you want holding those positions. It’s no surprise that a job that lets you harass, assault, torture, and kill people without repercussions is enticing to bullies.
Seeing how incompetent those police were in L.A., maybe we do need a round-limit for mags? If those cops had to frequently reload, it might have given them appropriate time to see that the truck they were so busy pumping rounds into was occupied by two white females and not Chris Dorner. But they were too thirsty for blood that collateral damage was deemed acceptable.
+1000
Cheif, its not ” bullying” for LE to comply with the same law they’re tasked with enforcing.
By his logic, bullying means accepting and complying with certain restrictions, which of course he does not want to do. However, those are the same restrictions that he and his buddy politicians are very eager to impose on the rest of us. So who’s the real bully here, mister hypocrite cop?
What’s good for the goose…..
More of the same. Disagree or stand up for your beliefs and you are a bully, bigot, racist, intolerant…etc…etc…
Are the massively annoying ads at the page bottom TTAG saying foad to readers?
They are driving me crazy too!
TTAG has ads?
As a Firefox user, my only answer is: I haven’t seen an ad in 3 years.
We’re having site issues at the moment. When they’re sorted the ad dies.
the adds to the right are not too bad the one at the bottom is annoying, and yet I have been new car shopping so I have clicked on a few, I understand TTAG is ttempting to gain income so it doesnt hurt to click a link every once in a while.
Working on it. The one at the bottom will soon be sleeping with the fishes.
So stop the complaining and support the companies that are going to do this. A few have started already. Write those who support government agencies.
Yeah, Dan, it’s gone. Not missin’ it one bit, either.
The arrogance of this guy. Even if you believe that, as someone in that position, have a little more class and humility. This is why people are becoming less tolerant of authority. They’re forgetting they all work for us.
Yep. Exactly.
Those of you who might have been skeptical of my point about how the taxpayers pay for this crap, and “paying means you don’t need to say please[*]”… you’re starting to see a pattern here, aren’t you?
[*] I first heard this from Jorma Kaukonen in some little booze club in a basement of some big building in downtown Rochester NY in 1985, I think. I could be wrong. I had a couple of beers and there was some strange smoke in that club. Anyway, a young guy politely asked Jorma to “Could you please play Hesitation Blues?” and Jorma growled “Son, payin’ means you don’t need to say ‘please.’ ” Right there is everything anyone needs to know about customer service.
That’s my attitude about public servants, who by and large are wastrels, spendthrifts and grifters with the public’s money. It’s time to remind these people about the “Golden Rule” – “He who has the gold makes the rules.” The best place to start this is locally.
Jorma Kaukonen!! I did NOT expect to see or hear that name today…
Seems more and more like the anti’s and the pro’s are trying to force a violent conflict.
In terms of gun ownership the pro states are getting more pro and the anti states are getting more anti.
Now the mini armies of each state are digging in their heels and the commercial element is drawing lines in the sand.
If they just left us alone. We’re not hurting anybody. Weaver and Koresh likely had similar thoughts right before loved ones started being killed all around them.
And it is as simple as that.
Just leave us alone and there will be no problem!
If NYC wants to buy Glocks for their officers, Glock should insist that they are ALL 10-rounders. See how they like that…
Seven rounds in New York now…
Correct. It is a business decision. The NY Legislature took a huge marketplace away from these companies so they have to adjust their infestructure to ensure they can remain profitable in that territory. For some that means exit, for others it should mean limiting their product lines to the simplest compliant levels, for everyone.
” a greater right”. It is unsettling when a person in a position of power and authority has this mindset.
all animals are equal, but some are more equal than others
What arrogance.
Awwwww…. The police chief feels “bullied” when he discovers that “turn about is fair play.”
He doesn’t seem to quite have the hang of that “public servant” thing. As others mentioned, his mindset is that cops are better than ordinary citizens. I’ll bet he thinks they shoot straighter too, Randy
If a lot more gun makers pile on and refuse to sell, this assclown might be singing a different tune.
I think it’s very telling and ironic that the police see it as THEM being bullied.
LE officers know that they will have access to the categories of weapons they want and they know the ban is directed primarily at the NY politicians. Any thinking NY LE officers also know that currently, for some gun makers, it’s mostly just a PR action to look good in front of gun owners nationwide. Yet, for some LE officers they are always in public macho-mode needing to flaunt their power and egos.
Pot calling the kettle black. The bullies feel they are being bullied. WOW!!!!!!! Let us not have any of that. EYE FOR EYE.
After years of bullying everthing and everyone in sight, the poor Chiefs claim they’re being bullied? Hahahahahahaha.
Oh, wait. They’re serious about that? Well, then, give ’em a tube of Prep H and tell ’em where to shove it.
We are working on that Ralph!
Spoken like a true government thug.
FOAD. Terrorists living amongst us masquerading as “good guys.”
I think Pro Gun Pols should ammend any limitation to include all LEO too.
If we dont need weapons, Police can do without too!
Unfortunately, the “leadership” of the NYS Association of Chiefs of Police are walking, breathing examples of both the Peter Principle and Conquest’s Second Law of Politics (Any organization not explicitly right-wing sooner or later becomes left-wing.). They have been utterly captured by NYC and Long Island political interests.
