U.S. Congressional Representative Darrel Issa has announced a congressional investigation into the ATF Gunwalker scandal, wherein the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives stands accused of enabling U.S. to Mexico gun smuggling. The House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform spokesman Seamus Kraft says Issa’s committee is launching the investigation because “Americans have a right to know who let this program happen and why. Our investigation seeks to deliver the facts so taxpayers can decide who should be held accountable.” In other words, heads will roll. Allegedly. There’s no news of the move on the Committee’s website so . . . tune in tomorrow.
Snore.
You give me more than one person who hangs for this, and I’ll give you a testicle.
No deal.
Well, maybe I’m a sucker, but I see this as a good thing. Lack of accountability is a huge problem among bureaucracies and this promises to hold someone accountable.
Rep. Issa is a poor choice to lead any investigation of ANYTHING, much less something so disgraceful and dangerous. His own ethical compromises will give anti-gun critics all the, um, ammo they need to dismiss his investigation. It’s like giving Special Prosecutor powers to former Illinois governors.
I don’t think Rep. Issa will work.
And this
Or this.
