The Truth About Guns  recently ran a post criticizing RECOIL for running an Obama ad on their website. In a post excoriating TTAG for hypocrisy, guns.com rightly pointed out that we’d done the same back in April. True story. Although our ad network screens ad for politics and porn, the Obama ad slipped through the net. We removed it immediately, and I forgot about the whole episode. That’s an explanation, not an excuse. The ad should not have made it live. By the same token, our Obama-related RECOIL post was unwarranted and unfair. I’ve pulled it off-line. I apologize for impugning RECOIL’s rep in this matter. As I said in a comment underneath the offending post, I take full responsibility for publishing all content on this site, both editorial and advertising. I regret the error and will work to ensure that nothing of the sort happens again.

  1. Thank you RF for admitting your mistake.
Now if some of the others would do the same we might all learn a lesson!!(trolls are you reading this??)
It takes a man to admit when he is wrong, especially in a public setting!!

  2. I don’t ever (almost never, hardly ever) hold ads against a site or their management. Most of these things are automated, and while you have content/category filters on the site, it would be relatively easy for people to miscategorize content.

  3. Good job, but on the other hand, I could care less if you take their money and put it to good use. I don’t think one reader on this site will change their stance because of a stray Obama ad. Not that there aren’t a good number of Dems, but I don’t think a few ads will flip anyone.

  4. “I apologize for impugning RECOIL’s rep in this matter.”

RF, I seriously doubt you could do any more damage to their reputation than they’ve already done.

  5. I’m glad to see TTAG own up to it’s mistake, but to me part of that means leaving the original article up where it can be seen. Deleting it is a mistake.
