Madison, NC – Bushmaster Firearms International (BFI) was recently awarded a contract to supply the Amtrak Police Department with 100 best-selling, Bushmaster M4-Type Patrolman’s Carbine rifles. These lightweight, gas-operated custom rifles feature a Magpul® collapsible stock, A.R.M.S. ® flip-up front and rear sights, 16-inch barrel with flash suppressor and a tough Parkerized finish. “We are extremely proud to be providing rifles to a national agency like Amtrak, with their critical mission to provide safety to our country’s railroad passengers,” stated Rick Johnson, Director of Law Enforcement Sales for Bushmaster. “We continue to produce high-quality rifles for the law enforcement community and look forward to more opportunities in the future.” The contract is being awarded through Markl Supply Company of Pennsylvania.

When did Amtrak get their own army? Why is it the progressives don’t want citizens to arm up but have no problem militarizing government agencies? Even FEMA is armed, and the EPA.

Why would any ethical firearms manufacturer arm an infamously notorious anti-gun agency? Seriously, we should not be celebrating in any way a company who is seeking out contract money with Amtrak, or for that matter, ATF, any LE under or in support of Interior ( remember the famously anti-gun National Park Service ) and a few others. These particularly egregious enemies of freedom shouldn’t be armed, much less armed with firepower like this. Not because of what they do, but because of what they’ve done.
if you mess with any railroad wether it be amtrak, union pacific, northern, soo….etc… you now involve the federal government…that’s just the way it is….

It is not an American tradition to arm its LEs with military style weapons. However, European police forces have been carrying fully automatic weapons in public places since the 1970s. Back then the threat came from KGB and STASI sponsored terrorist organizations like the PLO (and its affiliates), the Italian Red Brigades and the Baider-Meinhof gang. Today it comes from Islamic terrorists. AMTRAK is a terrorist target and because of this I am less concerned with their security personnel arming up then I am with my local police department. They won’t be conducting no knock raids in the neighborhood.
Unless of course you “picked up” a piece of equipment while track-walking as a kid… or someone says you did.
Somehow I don’t think someone kicking in my door while yelling “AMTRAK!” is going to be recognized as a police officer.
Most of the comments left on this page are made out of ignorance! You people are so caught up in the fact that the government is out to get you and not focusing in on the fact that organizations and companies like Amtrak are trying to help you! Amtrak has spent millions of dollars of it’s own money to train qualified men and women to protect your transit system from terrorist activities. These men and women have to go through the same and sometimes more ( learning federal laws as well as state and municipal laws) training then your local LE. So if Amtrak wants to make sure an active shooter scenario doesn’t happen like it did in other countries at other train stations and they want to make sure there not out gunned, why would you people care about the saftey of the public?

Huh? I thought it was taxpayer’s money. Or rail passengers’ money. Besides, who asked you to protect us from spree killers or active shooters? How many trains do you run? How many armed, trained officers? How about you allow concealed carry license holders to carry their guns on the train and let us take care of our own damned selves?
Government and other cultural institutions are out to strip away our liberties, self-reliance, values, and beliefs. Big nanny-police state government and its supporters want the American people weak and dependent. You people in government are political elites who look down on the American people as a bunch of dumb helpless serfs deserving to be corralled and taxed away. The past 45+ years have been one big failed social engineering movement with the two most influential ideologies affecting America being political-correctness and male-hating feminism.
I don’t see what the problem is with LE agency’s around the country arming them selves. If you are so paranoid about LE having knocking your door down, then join them and make sure it doesn’t happen. Oh yea, you might just be one of the many reasons why I am glad they are armed as they are.
