“Lee County Capt. Jeff Johnson says some friends were in [Randall] Butler’s girlfriend’s home when he showed them the safety features of his .22-caliber pistol. The captain says Butler showed them the safety and how the gun would not fire. Johnson says after Butler pulled the trigger and it didn’t fire, he showed them the slide action, put the gun to his head and pulled the trigger again. Johnson says Butler apparently failed to re-engage the safety.”
I feel no sympathy for this fellow. All I feel is relief that he managed to only hurt himself and not someone else.
… and hopefully, fathered no children.
Like I say, Murphy’s Law is a motherf#@%er. Pointing a weapon to your head is just tempting fate. If it’s not in the holster, pointing down range or about to be fired/used in self defense, it shouldn’t be loaded. And if it is unloaded, you still don’t point it at your head or anybody elses.
oops
I didn’t know that a guy with no brains could blow his brains out. There are a couple of these kinds of ADs every year. It amazes me that people who would never think of holding a chainsaw to their privates or an electric knife to their throats would actually point a pistol to their heads. And since this guy knew full well that the pistol was loaded, he was double dumb.
And this is why I say every gun is a loaded gun. Some people at the range think I am crazy but every gun IS a loaded gun. We see no issue with saying every knife is sharp but for some reason every gun doesn’t do damage. When you pick up an axe someone in the vacinity will say, ‘Be careful with that’. Putting a gun to your head? Good riddance.
This guy is fortunate to have only done himself harm. Thank Jesus.
… just tidying up the gene pool.
