What better way to kick off a weekend than with my man Delbert! If you’ve never heard of Delbert McClinton, shame on you. But even if you’ve not heard of Delbert, I’ll bet you a box of 12 gauge shells, you’ve heard his music. Tim McGraw and Faith Hill covered Shotgun Rider recently. He also wrote the classic “Back to Louisiana” (which mentions the city of my birth, Shreveport), and “Standin’ on Shaky Ground.” See? You’ve heard his music. Now enjoy this recording of McClinton at his best. And if he comes to your town, be sure and go see him. You won’t regret it.
I really like Delbert McClinton and his recording of the song Shotgun Rider is the best out there. However, it is not the song that Tim and Faith sang as a duet. While they are okay and their song is good it cannot touch nor should it be compared to the song Delbert sang. His is simply a great song although he did not write it. There are several songs out there that are titled Shotgun Rider, Tim recently released another by the same name but none of them are as good or the same as the one Delbert sings.
Hey Brad, Contact me and I’ll tell you where you can send me a box of 12 gauge shotgun shells. Winchester 00 Buck.
