Savage Arms just expanded its Stance line of pistols with the all-new Stance XR. The Stance XR is a compact pistol designed for everyday concealed carry. It builds on the success of the original Stance but bumps the capacity up from eight rounds to 13.
The Stance XR
The Stance XR micro pistol is chambered in 9mm. It has all of the features of the original Stance and now adds an expanded capacity of 13+1 and a quick-release optics (QRO) plate. The QRO plate is a system that allows shooters to quickly change optics to suit their particular needs.
The Stance XR has an ambidextrous magazine release and slide catch, making it suitable for both right and left-handed shooters. The stippled grip texture provides a secure fit in the hand and proper finger indexing. It also comes with two interchangeable backstraps, allowing the shooter to adjust the grip size to their personal preference.

3.2 inch barrel, including the chamber. So, the actual barrel length is less than 3 inches.
You’ll be lucky enough to get 250 foot pounds of energy out this little toy. Don’t use 147 grain JHP — the bullet won’t be travelling fast enough to open up.
You might as well carry a 2″ .357 magnum. So what it doesn’t have the capacity, at least if you hit something it’ll damage it. 13 rounds isn’t going to help you with this pea shooter.
Geez no weight or dimensions?!? Looks ok for being way way late in the crowded game🙄
Johhny LeBlanc,
Many/most 9mm Luger cartridges with hollowpoint bullets will not expand coming out of a short (3.2-inch in this case) barrel because the cartridges do not generate enough muzzle velocity. Therefore, if you go with cartridges which have hollowpoint bullets, choose carefully.
When it comes to pistols with short barrels chambered in 9mm Luger, personally I would load Underwood Ammunition’s Xtreme Penetrator product series (their bullets look like Philips screwdriver tips) which are designed to NOT expand and create impressive permanent wound channels even at the slightly reduced muzzle velocities inherent in short barrels.
The other important factor: in something like 93% of violent attacks, the attacker will break off their attack if the defender simply produces ANY handgun for self-defense–without having to fire a shot. Of the remaining 7% of violent attacks, most of them will break off their attack as soon as the defender starts shooting. Viewing self-defense in light of these facts, ANY operable and loaded handgun will save your bacon in all but the rarest of attacks.
Of course barrel length and bullet expansion are more-or-less irrelevant if the defender can put bullets into the attacker’s central nervous system. That is something else to keep in mind if you are using a handgun with short barrel.
I think Savage should retro their 1907
