WIth all due respect, our 2A rights have been in far more danger at certain times in the past than they have been today. Try 1993 for instance. Or even 2012-13. Which is not to say that that there isn’t a danger and it’s not to say that it isn’t always good to vote grabbers out.
While eternal vigilance is necessary, it’s bad to just continually claim we are in increasingly mortal peril. The NRA unfortunately uses sky-is-falling-faster-than-ever-before rhetoric constantly; one wonders how many people just tune them out after noticing it never seems to get better.
The depth of threat to the second amendment may be arguable, but what is not, is the fact that the activities of 93 led to a huge replacement of senators and representatives due to a threat to the 2A. The threats from the last 2 years need to be answered in kind. Knowing the past voting performance of politicians is the best indicator of which ones need to be retired by the ballot box.
Consider the appointment of judges, particularly the aging Supreme Court and the threat becomes very real for the next generation.
The reason our rights get in danger is because idiots think the same thing and don’t vote, then the urban hubs full of people who have never seen a gun before vote in anti-freedom politicians.
It must work to motivate participation otherwise everybody wouldn’t be doing it. A vote for a (D) will revoke the 2nd and put us all in fenced pens. A vote for an (R) will lock women barefoot and pregnant in the kitchen or legalize crucifying homosexuals up on the mount.
Politics is all lies and hyperbole. Hopefully this system can’t survive much longer as is. Ooops, is that hyperbole?

That’s the dumbest thing I’ve heard today. The worst case scenario is that gay marriage gets delayed a bit more and that a women would have to pay for an elective abortion out of her own pocket instead of by taxpayer expense.
This is closer to reality.
To get the “low-information” voters, you’ve got to demonize the other guy.
I have far more to lose with Democrats in power than with Republicans or Libertarians.
Sorry, I think you’re dreaming. The things you see are just like basic gun control, mostly whispered about as steps along the way, below the radar, or whatever, to a total ban on gun ownership and/or abortion and/or birth control. A woman’s reproductive health care is none of the government’s business, yet Republicans regularly promise how they’re going to pass some silly law which is clearly intended to control women, to make gays be straight, to hide reality from all the superstitious masses, and I have yet to see one say in answer to a question, “that is none of my business, it is none of your business, and it is none of our government’s business.” Questions on abortion, gay marriage, birth control, or many other social issues should be so answered. Questions on gun control should be answered with a partial or complete quote of the second Amendment, because that IS the government’s business.
Hyperbole aside, a (D) president *did* put US citizens in camps without trial in the 40s, and it has continuously been (D) legislators whittling away at the 2A. Not to say (R) folks haven’t committed their fair share of high treason – giving carte-blanche to banks and defense contractors, and allowing massive expansion of the surveillance state – but at least the GOP is a bit more subtle about eroding civil liberties.
IMHO, the NRA gets tuned out far more because of the incessant barrage of affiliate marketing (insurance, for example) than because of the “sky is falling” messaging. Their message gets lost in the clutter of crap they generate.
Could be. I am a way-out there life member, Endowment I think, and I often send simple donations, particularly to the ILA. But it has seemed to me for decades that whenever I send them $50, they spend $75 asking for more. And I’ve had them tell me they only ask once a year. Hah! I have received 10 requests for money in a week before.
What we need is a good old fashioned counter attack. Repeal the GCA or NFA.
Once you’re at the polls, think, “What would a Kardashian do?”
Then vote the opposite.
If you’re at the polls you’re already doing the opposite of the Kardashians.

Spend about five minutes in a make up artist’s chair getting some dots painted on your face, or a simple prosthetic, to make a lame attempt at creating “aliens”?
Is that NRA site telling anyone else that there are “no current elections” in their state? I can see a polling station from my window, but this site is adamant.
Truth is, we never really know which elections are the most important, until many years hence when their ramifications are part of history.
Let us not discount the importance of local elections. School boards, city councils and the like continue to trample on civil liberties “for the children.” The local mayor or county sheriff could be our strongest ally or greatest enemy. Our local units of government affect our lives more dramatically and more directly than state and federal governments.
Every week my Pastor says that the following week’s message will be the best, most meaningful, most rewarding message ever. He follows that by telling a tear-jerking story, then he passes the offering plate.

Why did you put “rights” inside quote marks?
An astute observation followed by a compelling question.
The short answer being for the purpose of eliciting additional attention to the word ‘Rights’. The essential underlying idea of ‘Rights’ being, of course, recognition of the otherwise natural status of each individual person.

As a former Person Of The Left, I’m well acquainted with the stateism, authoritarianism, and collectivism being sold to us under the label “fairness”. It took me awhile to figure it out, but at 2AM in a coffee shop off Guadalupe Street I had one of those blinding epiphanies that showed that it was all a huge lie. Knowledge, truth, and voting are powerful antidotes for those lies.

Vote early, vote often and as always, vote for the people who seem the least likely to use money stolen from you via confiscatory taxation to legislate away whatever ‘Rights’ you think you may still have.
I have been an NRA member since (I think) 1986. In that time, every election has been “THE MOST IMPORTANT ELECTION IN OUR LIFETIME!!!”
The NRA’s unrelenting “THE SKY IS FALLING!!!” BS gets really tedious.
I remember back in 1986 or 87 thinking that the NRA’s prognostications of doom were all BS. Turned out they weren’t. We got the AWB and plenty of other restrictions that I did not grow up with. Also seems like the weight of the majority is not nearly as much in our favor as it was back then. Maybe the sky really is falling…
I voted earlier and had the pleasure of helping to re-elect my State Rep and State Senator, both MA Republicans and both A rated by the NRA. I also had the great joy of voting against the Dem candidate for Governor, one Martha Coakley, who is the biggest idiot in the history of American politics and a gun-hater supreme.
This is an important election. Turning over the Senate to the Reps will emasculate President Ebola for the rest of his term in office until our long national nightmare is over.
