Texas Senator Ted Cruz is not the most photogenic politician. But he could well be the most conservative. An adjective that certainly applies to his support for the Second Amendment. For standing up to Hollywood hypocrisy, for giving us a rallying cry while the NRA maintains its radio silence, Senator Cruz is our Gun Hero of the Day. Watch him on video below . . .
Cruz is my Senator (well, him and Cornyn). I just wrote to Cruz, and Cornyn, and my representative, all imploring them to TAKE ACTION to SOLVE school shootings. Take real, meaningful actions that will actually reduce the carnage at school shootings. Armed guards. School marshals. Volunteers. Those who already have CCWs, whether teachers or administrators or janitors or what have you, if they’ve already got their license, for the love of God please remove the restrictions that PREVENT these people from STOPPING these school shooters.
I think we should all be writing our representatives and demanding real solutions. Don’t let it be that the only thing they hear is the Women’s March organizers and EveryTown — tell them what you want, and say it loud and clear.
Good ideas. Except that in California, CCW holders cannot carry on campus, and open carry is banned. I read today that someone messed up and supposedly off duty officers can’t carry either, but that doesn’t mean it is true. Then again, my kids’ high school had a full time city police officer, car parked out in front every day, on duty during school hours. He was a counselor too.
I wouldn’t take the off-duty police officers part too seriously.
LEOSA would override state, county, city, and locality carry laws.
An excellent notion. Esoteric Inanity has just sent the following to both senators and representative.
“Dear Senator/Representative
As are many other fellow countrymen in our wonderful nation, this humble constituent is not only sickened but outright ireful in regards to the latest school shooting. No doubt that these atrocities ought not afflict such young and fragile minds, let alone the seventeen casualties of said incident. Tragedies like this impale deep into the very being of this country’s sentience.
However, what is found to be just as disconcerting, are the disingenuous proposals and movements being propagated by anti-rights groups masquerading as benevolent causes. The severely anti-2nd Amendment billionaire Michael Bloomberg’s Every Town For Gun Safety and the cryptic organizers of the anarchist Women’s March, are two such organizations. Both of these groups are pushing the quintessential gun control propaganda and tripe. All the while, in order to engender sympathy, they are manipulating the young and naive victims into being the unwitting “fresh face” of this sham movement for their oppressive pseudo solutions. This tragedy, as with so many others, is being used to push more restrictions on the rights of law abiding citizens while all the while doing absolutely nothing to prevent another such incident from occurring.
One might then ask why this humble constituent has contacted the good senator. The answer: to let it plainly be known that more emotion driven gun control is not only unneeded but has been in abundance since the NFA of 1934 and GCA of 1968 etc. A bump-stock ban would prove to be as sensible as bringing a red herring to a wild goose chase, or another “assault weapons ban” for that matter.
What this country needs is to restore the rights of its citizens to lawfully arm themselves for their and their fellow countrymen’s protection. Whether they be teachers at a school, postal workers at the post office or even the duly elected representatives of the people at a baseball game. Such individuals ought have the god given right to arm themselves as a means of their own salvation from the cretinous machinations of society’s crazed predators.
Regards,
A freedom loving American”
Now is the time to be heard.
I’m concerned that North Korea and the United States are going to drop the ball, if( biggest word in the dictionary) this happens SHTF, it seems the government is on its way to confiscating weapons, many of you that have been or are in the military know why the governments in a direct conflict do not want civilians to have firepower. It seems this is he path of the U. S. If we get in a slugfest with NK, China will not align themselves with us, 1953 -2.0 only this time their military is questionably better then ours. There may be a time when we need these semi auto assault rifles and it seems our government is taking them away. If NK hits us you can imagine the chaos, using the world trade center as an exsample. There may be a time in the near future IF
Invest in Spectracide stump remover, Kleen-Out, a chainsaw, glycerol, peroxide hair bleach and hexamine fuel tablets.
There’s a sawmill 8 miles away from me with a mountain of sawdust,
Good man. Keep that sawdust dry, or at least free of other contaminants.
Pugsley! Let’s cut a deal. We’ll hand over the guns if they agree to ban abortion, facebook and the woman’s vote.
No. Not for any deal.
They can keep those things & I’ll keep my guns. I’m giving up nothing regardless of what may be offered in return. Though we all know their M.O. is to take & give nothing.
Calling for more government control for a government created crisis. Yeah, that’s real smart there, bub. ROTFLMFAO
The REAL solution is to get government out of it. Repeal all infringement.
It’s time that conservative cucks stop blowing the government. It isn’t going to get you that wedding you want. Sometime, y’all have your heads as far up government’s butt you could kiss the leftists on the mouth. What is it… Are y’all afraid of actual individual liberty so you defer to government to take your own responsibilities? Right or left, the end result is tyranny. Be free. Be responsible for yourselves. Stop begging daddy government to take care of YOUR responsibilities.
Leftists are weird. I don’t understand the reasoning.
“OMG Trump is literally Hitler and we must rebel! Right after everyone turns over their guns and the government has a monopoly on force.”
Seriously?
I don’t believe it’s the government’s job to implement a solution at all. I’ll pass on the social engineering. No thanks. They have done enough social engineering for me. School shootings, any shootings, stabbings, or whatever, is a criminal issue, not a gun issue, not a social engineering issue. A criminal issue. And crime is sorted out in the court, in prisons, and at the family level where role models, mothers, fathers, and prominent family members instill in their children values, morals, and principles. They explain to their children not just that life has value, but why it has value. And when their child has trouble at school, that troubled child should feel free to console with his role models, mother, father, and prominent family members about how best to proceed. Responsibility is the manifestation of the logos employing reason to sort out our problems at an individual level. Not submitting to emotion and taking everyone’s freedom away. Not submitting to emotion and shooting dozens of school children down in the school.
Government needs to allow people to defend themselves. And the people need to fix their problems themselves, individually. Not with government mandates.
Government needs to _allow_ people to defend themselves.
Seems your solution is actually the PROBLEM. No, I have no need for any level of non-voluntary government to “allow” me to do anything at all. If I’m not harming other people, that’s it. Nobody else’s business.
The desire/lust to control the lives and property of others is the ROOT of all evil.
Every politician, including Cruz, has as his/her goal the control of at least some of the people, as much of the time as possible. Control of people and their property is the entire purpose and goal of every government, at every level. As long as people continue to believe that government has any legitimate authority to do so… nothing will change for the better.
Actually, the love of money is the root of all evil.
Actually, having no money is the root of most evil.
Are you still intellectually abusing your unfortunate children via home-schooling indoctrination?
Have you yet covered how evil-lution and anthropogenic climate change are fake while ID aka Creationism is fact and CO2 is not a pollutant?
Your blighted spawn will also “learn” that gays are bad, guns and lots of them are great!
Math will focus on black crime stats and sociology wont exist so those numbers will remain decontextualized and naturally racism will NOT be on curriculum (except all the racism white folks suffer from black folks : D )
In short to riff off Oliver Wendell Holmes well have another generation of idiots as the dumbest of the dumb dumbly presume to be qualified to grapple with a high school curricula… hell MamaMoron you couldnt even PASS the AP classes nevermind teach them you clown
Good to see and good to hear. 2020?
2024 is more likely. Trying to unseat an incumbent in party then trying to win an election is a fools errand. He will run again, however. He’s clearly not done.
Cruz on the supreme court would be the best I could hope for. The senate might confirm him just to get him out of their hair, and he wouldn’t have to win a national election.
Let’s pray for a speedy Ginsburg retirement, voluntary or otherwise I care not.
I get a DC city bus passes the Court several times a day. In it or under it would work for the crazy old bat.
I heard today Kennedy has hired clerks for the next term, so we may not get good news on him retiring in June…
“Burn the witch!!!”
Ted Cruz will be a great fit on the SC once Ginsburg retires or dies at her old age.
If you think that Trump’s alleged philandering are bad, then you haven’t read about Teddy’s peccadilloes. He is an alleged sex addict. I am sure that will play well with the evangelicals. And then there was that great line, I wish I could remember who said it, “Even his good friends don’t like him.” He is oilier than Tricky Dick, albeit much smarter. I wonder if he has any redeeming qualities other than the fact that he is not only a true 2A defender, but a constitutional law scholar as well.
Indeed. One thing people also forget, is the biggest thing about Trump, and why he continues to beat the media, is he is the only one who was willing to stand toe to toe with the media. Any other republican would’ve lost to Hillary because they wouldn’t have been able to stand the media blitzkrieg against them like Trump has.
People realized why Trump won back in 1919. From the opening of Meet Calvin Coolidge by Connery Lathem (I can’t find the original article being quoted)
“Nearly a decade earlier, Bruce Barton, in one of the first major articles about Coolidge to appear in a publication of national circulation, had written, “We like novelties, we Americans; especially do we like them in our public life- and nowhere else are we offered so pathetically few of them. Year after year the same familiar types crop up in politics to go through the same threadbane campaign gymnastics… Only at rare intervals does something fresh and new and different break across the dull horizon; and when that unexpected does occur, we draw a deep breath, and thank God and take courage.”
Theodore Roosevelt had been one such “blessed phenomeon”; Woodrow Wilson another. “And now,” Barton declared, “to stir our jaded interest in another new thing under the sun has appeared- a politican who apparently conforms to none of the established rules; who operates after his own peculiar fashion, and yet somehow succeeds in getting his fellow citizens to vote for him in numbers that have made all the political observers stop, look, and listen.”
“As democracy is perfected, the office of president more and more closely resembles the inner soul of the people. And on some great and glorious day, the plain folks of the land will reach their heart’s desire at last, and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron.” —H.L. Mencken, Baltimore Sun, 1920
Nanashi great to see you again! I never heard back from you about my documented corrections to the racist lies youre so fond of spreading…
Recall Nanashi that in response to robert faragos racist article you remarked:
“Not mentioned is… the fact that blacks commit substantially more crimes.
But in fact it is as usual mentioned:
“…nonwhite people disproportionately engage in behavior that is criminal and dangerous,” Selby said.”
http://www.thetruthaboutguns.com/2017/12/robert-farago/cops-are-shooting-unarmed-black-suspects-and/#comment-3753711
And you never miss an opportunity to reiterate this fact (always decontextualied and with the racist implication that black folks are inherently criminal), but you never acknowledge the documented reality that this disproportionate crime rate does NOT account for/explain away the fact that police are disproportionately shooting unarmed black folks:
“There is no relationship between county-level racial bias in police shootings and crime rates (even race-specific crime rates), meaning that the racial bias observed in police shootings in this data set is not explainable as a response to local-level crime rates.”
http://journals.plos.org/plosone/article?id=10.1371/journal.pone.0141854
And endlessly repeating this bullsheet excuse of black crime rates is not changing the documented reality:
“The results provide evidence of a significant bias in the killing of unarmed black Americans relative to unarmed white Americans…”
http://journals.plos.org/plosone/article?id=10.1371/journal.pone.0141854
It would be rockin if you could muster up some kind of acknowledgement and thank you, and if you would include an autograph, Im a huge fan, I mean HUGE!!
“If you think that Trump’s alleged philandering are bad, then you haven’t read about Teddy’s peccadilloes.”
Yeah, why SCOTUS would be the best place to park him, in my opinion.
Heard some good news today, the tax reform Trump signed into law is going over well in America, the generic mid-term House ballot is no longer negative for Trump. A good 6 months of people seeing more money in their paycheck bodes well for us in November, if we can get Trump to tweet less.
We stand a good shot of picking up seats in the Senate, we may get more accomplished in the rest of his term than we thought a few months ago…
Again the Chump Acolytes are lying about Humps execrable behavior toward women.
Hump is NOT accused of “philandering” which means to have CONSENSUAL sex with many women
Hump is accused of SEXUAL ASSAULT, which means using VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN to GROPE and (try to)RAPE them
AND Hump is accused of bragging about using his power to repeatedly get away with this criminal violence against women
AND Hump is accused of then lying claiming that all men in the locker room brag about using their power to repeatedly get away with this criminal violence against women
You see, this is a bit different from “philandering”.
A little does of reality for the fake news Hump mythographers
This is what someone sounds like bragging about using his power to get away with serial sexual assault:
“You know, I’m automatically attracted to beautiful — I just start kissing them. It’s like a magnet. Just kiss. I don’t even wait. And when you’re a star, they let you do it. You can do anything…Grab ’em by the pussy. You can do anything.” Hump-In-Chief much admired by his sexist and misogynistic TTAG acolytes
This is what a boy/man in the locker room might sound like:
“Have you seen her tits poking through her sweater, and that Azzzz, OMG, I wanna fawk her so bad”
See the difference!?
This is what someone sounds like bragging about using his power to get away with serial sexual assault:

Its worth noting that the Hump-in-Chief used language that must be subjected to moderation on this filthy site… I cant post the presidents remarks about women without them automatically being subjected to moderation on this foul site, thats how wildly innappropriately your hero talks about women… mull that over…
Yup, if you believe tabloids unabashedly in deep with Trump, you’d believe the only good traits he has are the only ones that matter in a politcian. Reagan, HW, and W didn’t cheat that we know of, yet none did anything to help gun owners or reign in the surveillance state. Clinton was a poon hound, yet the same story again.
I haven’t heard anything about that particular accusation against Ted Cruz, but I do know that a lot of the smears ran against him were invented by Roger Stone, a very pro-Trumper that believes in “The ends justify the means” style of campaigning. Campaigns he’s ran in the past have included tactics such as making anonymous threatening phone calls to the opponent’s family, for which he was caught red handed and busted. In addition, the guy worships Nixon and has a tattoo of him on his back. He openly admits to using underhanded tactics. I’ve heard far more people say positive things about Cruz when he’s in private than on the campaign trail…. I guess it all depends on where you get your news. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
“He is an alleged sex addict”
Ah, I see the beginnings of the next Russian dossier.
There’s no merit to those accusations. Ted Cruz isn’t particularly wealthy, so he can’t buy sex, and I mean…come on…look at that face. Women aren’t exactly going to be throwing themselves at Grandpa Munster.
Well being as the original Russian dossier was a fake, bought and paid for by the DNC, another is likely on the way. This TTAG thread could be read into an intelligence report and become part of the record.
Given the worst case scenario that the allegations against Cruz are actually true, I’ll take a pro gun creeper over and anti-gun creeper any day.
True and I’ll take cruz even though he voted yes on the FBI being able to see all your internet history without a warrant. Pretty much how I’ll take Trump even though I think he sounds like a bumbling Obama sometimes. In defense of both Trump and Cruz, at least they don’t turn into stutters McGee from the crack corner like Obambam does without a teleprompter.
Sorry but that’s total and complete bull crap. It’s been debunked over and over again and you should have your pie hole taped shut for parroting this tripe. What are you? A die-hard Trumpie who fears Cruz will challenge him in 2020?
Get help!!
“He is an alleged sex addict”
I don’t care if he’s a meth-addicted gay prostitute as long as he does his job, which so far he seems to have done a hell of a lot better than most of the people sworn to uphold the constitution.
I know some commenters here love them some ad-hominem attacks (especially when there’s a woman’s picture above the headline), but it’s amazing to see that they won’t stop even when it’s their staunchest defender. I’m guessing nothing short of blond-haired blue-eyed super-caucasian gun-waving Jesus will ever meet the approval of some.
Bravo sir! He was my guy during the primary.
My man. Sadly not the most charismatic politician, but definitely one of the most intelligent and principled.
Hear, hear!
That was some good shit. Maybe Cruz’s rallying cry will give some other GOPer’s some spine.
He got my vote in the primaries! Big Cruz fan
If only more republicans would stand up for themselves, by calling out the obvious hypocrites in the entertainment industry and elsewhere, our republic would be much better off.
Perhaps he and Trump can inspire a back bone in these RINOS.
I am a huge fan of Ted Cruz and he is right on. He also did a 15 minute interview with CNN that they did not air, at least yet even though CNN fake news specialist Chris Cuomo said that Ted Cruz was afraid to talk about guns. Ted Cruz response on Twitter was:
Ted Cruz
✔
@tedcruz
That’s funny, I spoke to CNN for 15 mins yesterday about proactive solutions to prevent gun violence (like passing the Grassley-Cruz bill—which Dems filibustered—that would add $300 million for school safety) yet CNN has aired NONE of it. Why not air the (entire) interview? https://twitter.com/chriscuomo/status/964269092113911809 …
9:41 AM – Feb 16, 2018
Translation: “Ted Cruz was afraid to talk about [the commonsense gun laws that we support and the banning of semiautomatic] guns.”
I bet it was savage if they’re not airing it.
It would be funny for him to steal a line from Trump though and say that he’d rather appear on Nick at Night or HGTV because he’d reach more people.
I always liked Ted. He didn’t shy away when SHTF with Sandy Hook. He stayed to a very factual oriented campaign when he did it too, in the face of Democratic emotional pandering.
Although he has his flaws, he also seems to understand and appreciate that the constitution exists for a reason. The true winners will be when we see some senators standing up and saying “2A is to protect you from me.”
Besides this, I will say the obvious solution to part of this; FIRE ANYONE INVOLVED WITH DROPPING THE BALL ON THIS IN THE FBI. That’s pretty damn simple, you fuck up that bad you get the hatchet.
Trump nearly doing everything right so far into his tenure *almost* makes up for him savagely marginalizing such a valuable asset to the cause of individual liberty in America. Combination of Trump’s primary win and Cruz being up for re-election shortly afterward, meant Cruz has had to lay very low, especially for one so necessarily outspoken. War is war and all that, but I will have a hard time ever trusting Trump if he doesn’t vigorously endorse Cruz during the primary and general this year, now that they are no longer competitors (just as Cruz did for Trump after the primaries). Both guys were boors blindly fixated on winning without enough regard for what would come after, but Cruz doesn’t deserve an end to an honorable, nascent federal political career just because he lost to a rival. The fact there’s even a question whether he retains his seat after such an impressive six years is rather shameful.
Ted was my 1st choice for POTUS. I wish he was my senator instead of the twin sh#tstains of Durbin and the pregnant thing…
At one point he was something like 80% of Republican voters’ 1st or 2nd choice, Trump only got as high as 60 something percent for the same. As unappealing as he was, evennhe hadn’t pissed off quite as many folks. Trump’s done well so far, but the divisions he rather recklessly made are still hurting us (well, some of them; severing the Bush wing from the main party will be good in the long run for gun owners)
My 1st choice too. Voted for him in the primaries.
Mine too! Some people just don’t get him but he’s so plain spoken, folks aren’t used to that. They are used to politicians saying what they think will get them elected.
During a filibuster he was reading Green Eggs and Ham to this children listening to him at home as a bedtime story. That was the talk on News, talking heads pretending to act like he was some kind of nut. His wife got it, his kids probably got it.
And people who have critical thinking skills got it.
I think he would be a good president.
While sweet, it was a mistake (or missed opportunity). It put a big red flag on something *other* than the subject he’d been discussing, and gave the media the off-topic sound bite they needed to avoid discussing it. Trump would have used the opportunity to say something inflammatorily blunt but mostly correct about government spending, and forced the media to report on this issue.
The only thing Trump says about government spending is how he wants much more of it… He has never said anything mostly “correct” and he doesn’t speak bluntly, he just spouts off whatever 3rd grade platitude he thinks will make his audience like him.
“3rd grade platitude”??
Did he actually get that far? I know most schools start teaching history and US geography in 3rd grade.
I’m talkin’ talk here, not action
Personally I always thought that Grandpa Munster was the most photogenic of the Munsters.
We have got to get your eyes checked.
Yeah, the guy in that video is clearly Officer Schnauzer of the NYPD.
Not to spread conspiracy theories here but I believe that Gandpa Munster, Officer Schnauser, Ted Cruz and the Zodiac Killer are all the same person.
He’s got the same last name as the shooter in Florida
So you’re saying like father like son?
President 2024 or Supreme Court for life
That is the most honest thing a republican has said facing the camera in decades. You have my respect Ted Cruz. For once I heard someone speak to what they truly believe in. How often have we heard our men and women in office say what will keep them out of the media, but finally we get to hear someone speak what they truly believe in. If only all republicans in office spoke with that kind of sincerity we might actually make some headway. Especially since we are against a force of liberal politicians and millennials so quick to condemn anyone who disagrees with their point of view. We need more men and women like Ted Cruz to be willing to stand up and speak for what we all believe in. If not, the second amendment will inevitably die and soon afterwards the rest of the freedoms that make this country a place worth living in. Cruz, I didn’t vote for you when I had the chance but I am starting to feel I made the wrong decision. If you read this, Thank you sincerely for standing up for what you, and the rest of this free country believe in. Keep on keepin on we will see you at the next election. God bless America.
Still can’t believe Trump beat both Cruz and Paul in the primary. Actual politicians with a pro gun, small government track record got beat by the guy that was literally a Democrat hanging out with Hillary a decade ago. Conservatives truly are their worst enemy.
It’s because they were already in the government ( Senators ) and Americans have about a 0-10% approval of Congress right now in our history , this happened in a European country around 1933 . Americans might have voted for a boot over Hillary , whom they saw as completely immersed in the dingy world of politics . The win over the establishment was guaranteed , the win over the anti-establishment ( Cruz and Paul ) was only possible , because people had and have such a deep mistrust and disillusionment with all things congress .
Wholly $#!+
Why could he not talk like that during the primaries? He would have been soo much better than trump.
Hallelujah brother!
LOL, Ted Cruz certainly doesn’t understand the 2nd Amendment, but then he is Canadian. The 2nd Amendment wasn’t placed into the Bill of Rights for us to protect ourselves from bad people, our right to keep and bear arms is a natural right (God given).
Let’s let Noah Webster (Founding Father) explain:
“Another source of power in government is a military force. But this, to be efficient, must be superior to any force that exists among the people, or which they can command: for otherwise this force would be annihilated, on the first exercise of acts of oppression. Before a standing army can rule, the people must be disarmed; as they are in almost every kingdom in Europe. The supreme power in America cannot enforce unjust laws by the sword; because the whole body of the people are armed, and constitute a force superior to any band of regular troops that can be, on any pretense, raised in the United States. A military force, at the command of Congress, can execute no laws, but such as the people perceive to be just and constitutional; for they will possess the power, and jealousy will instantly inspire the inclination, to resist the execution of a law which appears to them unjust and oppressive.” Noah Webster, An Examination into the Leading Principles of the Federal Constitution, 1787”
I wasnt too sure about Cruz during the primaries, I didnt like something in his approach to the questions and answers. Having said that, Im thinking Cruz may have been the person who should have become president. Trump says too many things one way then flips faster than a dollar bill being tossed at a stripper. He said he would end the insanity of GFZ’s – nada. I dont see any support from him on National Carry Reciprocity, or fixing the ATF. Sure he is loading up the courts with young conservatives and that will pay back down the road but we are going to lose a bunch of rights to get in front of the courts.
Sorry Mr Cruz, you should have been the man.
In my opinion , the reason Cruz is not the president is because the establishment feared him ( his approach to federalism ) more than any candidate since Reagan and probably more so , because Reagan showed a willingness to work on the other side of the isle during his political career and during the campaigns ( note George H W Bush during the 1980 Republican convention ). Cruz was a true hard head uncompromising bull who actually believed what he said and intended on carrying out those things he believed in , he is an origionalist in constitutional interpretation and would have turned back the wheels of progressive ism setting a coarse of shrinking our government and dismantling agencies and departments merging others , perhaps taking America back to the gold standard and ripping us away from the federal reserve system .
I believe Cruz would be president today if he had not been an evangelical Christian . It is a position that is threatening to so many people today , on both sides of the political spectrum , because it threatens their lives of vice and materialism , their anything goes outlook on peoples lifestyles .
Look , I have followed Ted Cruz’s policies , his position on our constitution and his views on his faith and nowhere has he shown a propensity to try and dictate how other people should live their life as long as they obeyed constitutional laws and did not try and dictate policies that were against his faith onto him . These are two mandates I believe we all seek in each other .
I was a supporter of Cruz , I am a supporter of Cruz and even though Trump has made some progress , I believe he is less about our constitution and more about our wealth . This is not a path I can go down with out great trepidation , wearily keeping an eye open for signs of dictatorship tendencies and cracks that reveal a threat to our unique American constitution and the GOD GIVEN rights it protects and guarantees .
