An apparent terror attack took place earlier today in the Dutch city of Utrecht. According to the BBC, the shooter may have opened fire in other locations in the city as well.

UTRECHT, Netherlands (AP) — Dutch police were hunting down a suspect after a shooting Monday on a tram in the central city of Utrecht that left one person dead and multiple people injured.

Authorities immediately raised the terror alert for the area to the maximum level and said they are considering the possibility of a “terrorist motive” in the attack. Dutch military police went on extra alert at Dutch airports and at key buildings in the country as the Utrecht manhunt took place.

Police, including heavily armed officers, flooded the area after the shooting Monday morning on a tram at a busy traffic intersection in a residential neighborhood. They later erected a white tent over an area where a body appeared to be lying next to the tram.

Utrecht police said trauma helicopters were sent to the scene and appealed to the public to stay away. As the manhunt continued, heavily armed anti-terror officers gathered in front of an apartment block close to the scene.

Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte called the situation “very worrying.”

Police spokesman Bernhard Jens said no one had been detained yet in the shooting, and one possible “explanation is that the person fled by car.” He did not rule out the possibility that more than one shooter was involved in the attack.

“We want to try to catch the person responsible as soon as possible,” Jens said.

A German police spokesman said German authorities near the border were initially told to look out for a red Renault Clio compact sedan but were later told it had been found abandoned in Utrecht. There was no immediate confirmation on that from Dutch police.

The Netherlands’ anti-terror coordinator raised the threat alert to its highest level around Utrecht. Pieter-Jaap Aalbersberg said the “threat level has gone to 5, exclusively for the Utrecht province.”

“The culprit is still on the run. A terror motive cannot be excluded,” he said in a Twitter message.

After the shooting, Dutch political parties halted campaigning ahead of a provincial election scheduled for Wednesday that will also determine the makeup of the Dutch parliament’s upper house.

In neighboring Germany, police stepped up their surveillance of the Dutch border. Heinrich Onstein, a spokesman for federal police in North Rhine-Westphalia state, said additional officers had been detailed to watch not only major highways, but also minor crossings and railway routes.

German police are in close contact with authorities in the Netherlands and have a description of the suspect, he said, but would not elaborate for security reasons.

  1. More fake news. O’bongo’bongo told us all that mass shootings don’t happen in other western countries… It was probably just Roland.

    • New Zealand, now the Netherlands, and the Paris Bataclan mass-murder events were obviously false-flag events…

      (Sarcasm)

      • No, they’re only false flags when they’re committed by white guys /massive sarcasm

Hopefully they nail this guy, and whoever his confederates are. Maybe it’s my imagination, but these Euro terrorists seem to “get away” for a short time more frequently than in the US, during which police are able to roll up whatever little cell of buddies they were working with (I think it’s because legit terrorist activities are much more common in warzone-adjacent Europe than in the US, where it truly is more often a ‘lone nut’ for all investigative purposes. As bad as the cartels are, they aren’t directly attacking our government/civilians in an organized fashion just yet, the way the Muslim & occasional ultranationalist groups do)

        • Part of it probably is geography.

Part of it probably also has to do with methods of policing. European countries tend to focus more on intelligence gathering and sending in a counter terror unit. That’s effective but when they miss a cell or a loner they don’t have as quick of an armed response time to an event.

That and European cities are often built in a way that makes disappearing quickly, for a time, easier.

      • “Roland the headless Thompson gunner?”

        Talkin’ about the man!

        *snicker* 😉

  2. That Obama quote is getting a little long in the tooth. Unless you think Obama is god, dragging it out every time there is a shooting off America soil just shows an unhealthy obsession with a guy who hasn’t been president in years, and will never be again. The guy was wrong. Get over it.

    • No, the guy LIED and he knew he LIED, to try to justify his communist government taking away the rights of Americans at gun point. That scumbag should be in jail for obstruction of justice alone.

        • @ detent, I’m over it but there are millions of Americans who worshipped at the throne of Obama and still believe it’s true, that this only happens in America. They continue to drive their obsession of ridding the world of ‘evil guns’. You seem to want to forget that our president openly lied to us. Kind of like he did about ‘keeping your plan and keeping your doctor’.

        • So what I hear here is Obama lied twice in 8 years.

Trump lied 400 times in six months, and now over 2000 documented lies.

          Got it. Thanks.

        • Detent, I can say that Osama lied more than 3000 times each day, and it would mean as much as your completely unverified accusations against Trump. And if you wish to actually count, don’t forget that the deaths in Libya were all due to a video, and that gun trafficking into Mexico at his direction was all part of a closely controlled investigation. He *actually* lied, as opposed to your social media bullshit.

    • Detent,

Dragging Obama’s quote out every time there is a shooting off United States soil demonstrates the proclivity of Progressives to LIE to advance their agenda.

Exposing their LIES and deception is always constructive.

    • I agree that Obama was one of the worst presidents ever. But he still represents the democommies and for that reason he and all the policies he promoted should be denigrated incessantly along with those who continue to promote the same tyranny. When he comes out and says he was wrong and works to repair the damage he did to this country I’ll ask ttag to stop. Probably won’t happen so he gets what he deserves.

    • “That Obama quote is getting a little long in the tooth.”

No, it isn’t. We rub their noses in it *every* chance we get until the end of time…

    • Well, it was up there with previous gems like “misery index,” “peace in our time,” “religion of peace,” “the Ayatollah is a Man of God,” “terrorism is part and parcel of living in a diverse city,” “fool me twice…can’t get fooled again,” and “I looked the man (Putin) in the eyes and saw his soul”

I say it’s fair game until something even dumber comes along. Shouldn’t take much longer; Trump’s unqualified opinion on modern aerospace engineering the other day was definitely a contender.

      • Not really. As an aerospace engineer I feel he made quite a valid point. Over simplified, but still poignant. All the preening morons pining for Albert Einstein to be their pilot not only missed the point, but are also wrong.

    • If Obama was content to just lie low (especially given just how much he lied to us), we would probably not bring him up as much (same for Clinton).
But the man insists he’s still politically relevant, and acts like he believes it (as does Clinton). So, if he’s going to push himself before us as often as he does, then this is what he gets.
Don’t feel sorry for him. He’s got his.
      So he gets this.

    • On the contrary, everytime there is a murder or shooting committed by an African-American male (blacks commit more thsn 1/2 of homicides and nearly 2/3s of gun homicides in America) I comment “if President Barack Obama had a bastard son, he would look like ….

Of course this sarcastic reference to Obama’s incitement about the Trayvon Martin shooting is rediculous. It implies that Obama actually has testicles and a functioning penis. The redent revelations by Michele Obama that they needed to resort to IVF to have their daughters confirms that Barack doesn’t.

    • He also didn’t say they don’t happen, as often misquoted by people. He said they don’t happen with the same regularity. And they don’t, with few possible exceptions (Mexico? Afghanistan?).

The obsession with Obama rivals that which liberals had for Bush.

  3. “Globalist Put-Up-Jobs” to generate a massive movement for Worldwide Civilian Disarmament…Almost reminds me of Greg Bears Sci-fi “The Way.” In it’s later chapters, After an atomic war. The human remnant (mob) went on a Disarmament campaign and forcefully confiscated fellow citizens weapons…Because of technology and people with weapons….

  4. Pretty quiet on the lamestream mediduh…in fact except for google I’ve seen nothing on tv. Turkish gunman supposedly. Is it possible they’re covering up. for the religion of peace©?!?

    • I’ve seen several reports that the shooter was trying to kill a particular woman, and that the others got in the way. If correct, that was decidedly not a terrorist attack, and I am STILL wondering why it’s getting so much press (from the Netherlands!) while there were likely more murders in a 5 block area in Chicago the same weekend.

  5. “We want to try to catch the person responsible, as soon as possible”, Jens said. Really? Just going to ‘try’? All those street camera might deter the average guy, but does nothing to stop terrorists (antifa, or others). I hope they ‘try’ real hard. I wonder why there’s no terrorist activity in Poland, Slovakia, Hungary, Serbia, Romania, Czech Republic.

    • Victoria Illinois,

I’ll take, “Which countries do not allow Muslim immigrants?” for $800 Alex.

(For those of you who live under a rock, my comment above is a reference to the television game show Jeopardy.)

    • No terrorist activity in Eastern Europe? Really? Muzzies ain’t the only game in town. Things have cooled down a little in recent years due to all the economic growth, but the instant that turns around all the old communist, fascist, and anarchist groups will pop up & start making trouble again, like they always do. That, or plain & simple military incursion yet again from their old pals on the Eastern front, that dwarfs anything terrorists can do.

  6. Sadly, he will never get what he deserves in this life. Americans will get the government they deserve, sadly they elected(twice) a president who was schooled in an anti American way. The takeover almost worked – we will see the near future if then the Obama brats can keep the ball rolling toward government failure.

    • Are you alluding to the the Cloward-Piven paper published the Nation magazine in 1966 in which the authors call for an overloading of the welfare system to force social change? Part of what they wrote, for instance:

“A series of welfare drives in large cities would, we believe, impel action on a new federal program to distribute income, eliminating the present public welfare system and alleviating the abject poverty which it perpetrates. Widespread campaigns to register the eligible poor for welfare aid, and to help existing recipients obtain their full benefits, would produce bureaucratic disruption in welfare agencies and fiscal disruption in local and state governments. These disruptions would generate severe political strains, and deepen existing divisions among elements in the big-city Democratic coalition: the remaining white middle class, the white working-class ethnic groups and the growing minority poor. To avoid a further weakening of that historic coalition, a national Democratic administration would be con-strained to advance a federal solution to poverty that would override local welfare failures, local class and racial conflicts and local revenue dilemmas. By the internal disruption of local bureaucratic practices, by the furor over public welfare poverty, and by the collapse of current financing arrangements, powerful forces can be generated for major economic reforms at the national level.”

      That kind of government failure?

  7. How is it possible that there are all these mass shootings in heavily gun controlled Countries like New Zealand and France and Netherlands? Mass shootings only happen in the US because they have the NRA there. The TV and Obama and the demanding moms told me so. I think Foxnews just made the stories up and paid CNN to back them up. I’ll bet there’s not even any such a place as New Zealand. The flat earthers tell me that there is no Australia, I’ll bet there’s no New Zealand either.
    I am not a crackpot!!!!!!!
    /sarc off/

  8. Can’t we all just get along???, I just thought of that as I was floating face down in my pool…! Catchy phrase don’t ya think,,,(subject change).

  9. And the “Religion of Peace” reminds us once again that it wishes to kill everyone, and anyone who does not submit.

  10. Obama and other progressive/fascists, like all authoritarians, fear individual gun ownership because it threatens their power. By enforcing gun-control, denying individual ownership of firearms, states are accepting the fact that illegally obtained weapons will be used to kill unarmed citizens. Despite the obvious fact that that an armed populace would dramatically reduce to potential for spree killers to do harm, progressives are perfectly willing to accept that cost if it allows them to maintain control . It’s useful to contrast the routine killing of innocents their policies permit to what happens when an armed and aroused population collectively decides to confront tyranny. This is exactly what happened at Bundy Ranch. This was a modern Concord Bridge event.

  11. Ole Barry never could get anything straight! Nor did he ever recognize that more mass stabbings take place in other countries.

  12. Part and Parcel. I doubt anyone would care except the media was probably hoping it was a white male. Even now they are pretending they don’t know he is a Turk.

  13. Yet another Muslim shooting Christians. But the media will ignore this to pay more attention to the NZ shooter, since that fits the narrative.

  14. UPDATE: The evening “news” is calling the Turk turd “maybe” a terrorist! Oh well😩

  15. Two factors contributed to this . . . mass immigration and the failure of Europe’s strict gun control to have any ameliorating affect of this sort of violence. People who think gun control will keep them safe are the saddest kind of fools.
