This post could be titled How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Buy a Silencer at the 2016 Texas Firearms Festival at Best of the West Shooting Sports, 14 – 16 October. Because there are a lot of people who understand the benefits of sticking a suppressor on the end of their handgun, rifle or shotgun, but don’t how or where to start — especially with new ATF rules in place. Enter The Silencer Shop . . .

Can we PLEASE have suppressors made AOW ($5 stamp) so the market will open up and I can afford these things?
Is that asking too much?!?!?
Hear Protection Act 2016… remove Suppressors from the NFA completely.
While eliminating the unconstitutional NFA would be the best course of action, there is no legitimate reason why you should need to register, let alone pass a background check for a suppressor. The HPA requires a background check, to make the squeamish feel better about themselves at least. Call your representatives, get this passed ASAP!
In a perfect world the NFA and all its restrictions would go away.
In a more realistic but much better world, Silencers would require a normal NICS check like buying a long gun, SBR and SBS would just be treated like handguns, and MGs would still be regulated heavily and subject to a stamp tax but the registry would be re-opened. Hell, you could repeal the Hughes Amendment and increase the MG stamp tax 10x $2,000 and it would be a huge win.
I have called my Congressmen. What more can I do to get the hearing protection act passed. Boggles my mind when I go to the gun shop and they have these things for sale and for rent and no literature about the Hearing Protection Act.
I’d like a suppressor. But I have a really hard time justifying the $1,500+ cost of entry. The only gun I have that came suppressor-ready from the factory is my MCX, and I’d probably want to convert that to a short barreled 300 BLK. Add in the paperwork and waiting period and I’ve never been able to justify it.
That’s probably because your cost estimate is hilariously wrong. You can get something like a Sig SRD556 with a stamp for like $700 out the door and it’s one of the best 5.56 cans on the market.
