SilencerCo got into the AR lower business last year with their impressively machined SCO15 billet lowers. See our review here. Now the Utah company is taking the next logical step with their new SCO15 uppers.
Here’s SilencerCo’s announcement . . .
SilencerCo is excited to announce the release of the SCO15 Upper Receiver. Perfect to pair with the SCO15 Lower Receiver. The Upper Receivers are currently available at local retailers and online at the SilencerCo webstore.
The SilencerCo SCO15 Upper is a premium AR-15 stripped upper receiver, precision machined from billet 7075 aluminum and finished in type III hard anodize. It features a mil-spec 1913 picatinny rail and M4 feed ramps. Additionally, it is compatible with mil-spec forward assists and dust covers. It is everything a shooter needs to complete their dream AR-15 build.
“In a market with so many different AR-15 manufacturers, and so many options for full rifle builds and build components, the one product customers have been unable to attain until now has been a SilencerCo branded AR-15,” said Senior Product Development Specialist, Dewie Vieira. “Now they can purchase an upper and lower receiver completely machined in-house and entirely ‘SilencerCo.’”

Nice, but overpriced and mostly “cosmetic” and not anything in price or quality you can’t get elsewhere for less.
I doubt there is much that TTAG markets but doesn’t market, that isn’t overpriced. For $40 more I can wait for a sale on the usual armory sites and get a complete barreled upper w/ BCG that will serve me well. Or for the price of this stripped upper, get a barreled upper w/o BCG.
I have always had people tell me these are stiffer than forged, but at the same time no one can tell me an accuracy difference.
Seems like a good way to waste a hundro if you got it vs a normal upper.
they did it right:
forward assist
Gift prices might be high, but you can still find great presents without breaking the bank this holiday season by creating a budget and curbing your shopping spree tendencies in the store.
The holidays make up the biggest gift-buying season of the year, and as fun as holiday shopping can be, it can get stressful when you’re on a budget.
