Over the last few months STAG Arms has been in the news — and not in a good way. The company ran into a spot of regulatory trouble when the ATF revoked their manufacturing license, but it sounds like things are back on track at the STAG Arms booth here at SHOT Show . . .
According to one employee things are just peachy. “We had a bit of trouble, but we paid some fines and we’re back up and running now.” Which is PR friendly way of downplaying the fact that the company president and owner were forced to sell the business and had to fight to get their firearms manufacturing license back from the ATF.
Notably absent from the booth were many new models. According to their sales reps they’re focusing more on fulfilling their current orders and chugging through the backlog of guns rather than pushing out new SKUs, which seems like a wise move.
Well I wondered as I saw them advertising on Outdoor and Sportsman Channels(a lot). Have fun in Vegas…
Here is the more important question Nick………no R51 sighting at the Shot Show this year??? Im assuming the even mention of that gun gives Remington reps lots of red faces and turning of the heads? Knowing Remington i can almost predict they will spout of some excuse on how the design is going to be revolutionary, improved and innovative. I would think at this point even mentioning the R51 is a running joke with you guys. Just curious if it made a sighting this year, as last year they made a point of having it front and center and talking about how it was so improved and going to be back and better than ever real soon!
Yep and the owner gets felony charges = no gun rights. But hey… felons shouldn’t have guns right? Keep those guns out of the hands of “dangerous” felons.

If you read the news releases when it happened, Stag was basically put on “probation”- the license was still valid & would be extended as needed until the owner *could* sell the business. As far as i’ve seen, the owner still hasn’t sold, and that isn’t much of a surprise since it’s only been a month since the plea agreement was announced.
Wtf is up with the sloppy-ass “reporting” here? I kinda expect a “gun blog” to actually use *facts* and not exaggerated bullshit when talking about a very 2A friendly gun company.
Never seen a Stag AR for sale at a gun show or on the shelf of a LGS (?)
My first AR was a model 1. They are one of the first, if not the first, to produce a left handed AR including ejection on the left. They build a lot of smaller components for other companies, I heard a rumor the first M&P15 rifles were built by them and not Smith and Wesson.
I have one. Won it on Gunbroker. The seller was a CO State trooper and it still has the asset tag in the stock. Said it was early mfr for S&W by Stag. It is awesome, all I did to it was put a Velocity trigger in it.
