i wanna make fun of this guys mall ninja getup but if he is in California with that ar he has got some balls
I’m hoping policy for TTAG is to delete all metadata from submitted photos. If not, it should be policy.
Absolutely this.
For those of you who don’t know, easiest way to delete phone metadata is to copy it to your computer and take a screenshot of the image. However, without additional work the image will likely still contain information about the program used to edit the image as well as your computer itself. Here’s a useful link for those interested (and yes, it’s a little old, but your independent google-fu should be willfully strong on this subject):
http://www.pbs.org/idealab/2011/02/how-to-remove-location-information-from-mobile-photos055/
It’s too late, I’ve already dispatched a SWAT team. Kidding.
I hope this guy did it himself already. Especially since he is basically alluding to committing crimes.
There is still the email and te associated headers, but I’m hoping TTAG would hold for a warrant. Maybe policy includes deleting the email… or maybe email hosts are in Sealand… or…. .???
It’s possible that he had it registered before the deadline in 2000, and it’s therefore legal. Maybe the non-compliance to which he was referring was the law regulating the possession of scary face masks by individuals who aren’t empowered to participate in organized violence.
The mag may be limited to 10 rounds and he may have a bullet button installed. Can’t tell from the pic.
It might not even be a real gun, and he may not even be in CA.
He might not even be real, maybe this site isn’t real, maybe it’s all just one big dream…
I think, therefore I am (I think).
I dunno. I’m so confused…
Yes, but are we all thinking, or aming? I think aming, I think.
Phuck. Now I gotta have a night light again tonight. You guys just love to phuck with my mind.
How Can Assault Rifles Be Real If Guns Aren’t?
Good to see people standing up to unConstitutional laws in other states too.
Nice! I’m glad to see “non-compliers” and “freedom outlaws” behind enemy lines.
If we fire the first shot in this phase of the culture war, we lose. If we surrender, we lose. The only way we can win is massive noncompliance, passive resistance and one court challenge after another, resulting in non-enforcement.
But as far as getting these laws repealed, I’m not all that hopeful. Hell, we can’t even get bridge tolls repealed.
+1
At least the bridge tolls have a nominally useful purpose.
I am looking forward to your reports Nick
Cool story, bro.
And out next contestant on “Let’s take a selfie like a soon-to-be spree killer” is… this guy.
He’s in California. He has to protect his identity from people like you.
Have you seen the other entries? Gotta love the ‘serial killer mugshot’ expressions!
Ominous. But hey, different strokes and all that. I, for example, intend to take a photo of myself in a banana hammock to show my support.
make sure its the one like borat wears with the shoulder straps
Heh! This made me a little bit queasy.
Is there another kind? That’s all I’ve ever worn.
Oh for craps sake! Now I gotta have the night light and the sting of eye bleach. You phuckers are just mean.
Or a tasteful nude with a strategically placed buttstock…
Keep in mind, the fearless leader of moms demand action is a former public relations professional. I can just imagine the furious cut and paste going on as she grabs pictures like this trying to scare Mr. and Mrs. America about the paramilitary domestic terrorists bragging on the Internet about how they break state and federal firearms law.
Our right to keep and bear arms is enshrined in the Constitution. Unfortunately, we live in a completely political environment, and image can be everything when it comes to manipulating public opinion and bringing political pressure to bear on weak decision-makers
Agreed. If I were located in a blue state such as CA I would choose a much more innocuous disguise, like a nun outfit or Barney. Wait- that may be a tad creepy. The skullface ski masks are beginning to get on my nerves a little bit though regardless. Enough of the tacticool operator crap already. We don’t need that kind of thing on our side.
He should have worn an Obama mask.
Don’t steal my idea, Ralph.
good to see the lunatic fringe is checking in
The only way you’re going to see the lunatic fringe is if you look in a mirror.
If you are part of the CA non-compliers – a group which I know “nothing” about – then it would behoove one to be anonymous. Our government probably already thinks many of us are creepy. I am referring to all gun owners who have the ability to see that gun bans, registrations, mag caps, may issue, etc. are detriment to responsible gun owners and not in the interest of public safety as advertised by statists.
Alas, anonymity is as much of a pipe dream as privacy. Neither exist anymore. Just ask the NSA.
The NSA is not all-knowing. They’d like to have us cower in fear at the thought. Without cell phones, current addresses, good license plates, credit cards, witnesses, and aerial surveillance, it can be very difficult to track someone down. We have many criminals on the lamb simply because we cannot track them.
Want to be hard to find? Go low tech.
“..on the lamb”
Ha! It’s on the lam, bro.
iPhone autocorrect / fill in.
You realize how stupid easy it is to be anonymous on the internet? All it takes is a bit of planning. Even Tor is still secure from all but dedicated efforts to crack it. Even then it’s hit or miss. And if all you want to do is send anonymous email, that’s even easier.
Fastest way, do some searching on how to download bittorrents anonymously. Use one of those methods, and the last traceable aspect of your activity stops at the VPN server.
The NSA and “Uncle” just want you to THINK it’s hard to be anonymous.
Words to live by: Tor. PGP or GnuPG. Peace (through deterrence).
And strip out the EXIF
I don’t see why it is a problem that this guy is wearing a mask. We all know how some people in our communities react when they find out we have guns. Especially if this guy lives in California.
A Ronald Regan mask would have been better though…
I would have worn my furry costume.
Considering how often I read about people being arrested based on photos of them appearing with drugs or firearms, and assuming he’s in Ca (that’s a TAD gear balaclava, i bet, a CA based company) then I completely understand and support his wearing a mask, despite how sad it is that those kinds of measures are necessary.
in California, The Chair Is Against The Wall, after all.
Shockingly, the 9th District Court of Appeals just issued a surprising ruling on the Peruta case which may open the door to a more relaxed CCW process in CA. Miracles do happen! Don’t ever give up hope…
Long overdue reaction to the State of California cutting loose tens of thousands of prison inmates.
If they’re not going to keep these people in prison to serve out their sentences, then they have to do something to let regular folks protect themselves against predators.
I haven’t seen that sort of flat dark earth rail cover before. Anyone know what it is?
Looks Like LaRue Index Clips. I’m about 90% positive.
Thanks!
I don’t mind the try for anonymity. It’s the death-head mask pattern that sends the wrong message and only reinforces the antis’ message that anyone that respects and lives by the Second Amendment is a “gun-nut” just one spilled latte away from a bloodbath at Starsucks.
I’d rather that the photo stopped at the shoulders. Maybe a single mom with her arms around her children saying “I defended my young daughters from a meth-head home invasion with a 15 round magazine. Why does the State of Connecticut want my children to be at the mercy of drug felons?”
The antis are masters of framing the message with images meant to sway the mushy middle of Americans. We have the facts on our side – it’s time to have the message on our side too, and that starts with images that the target audience identifies with.
Less mall ninja and more working mom.
Two words: Balls, kudos!
The citizens of Connecticut must use the power of the vote to rid their state of the scum of the earth that forgot Connecticut is called the “constitution state”
How come the idiots in power stated “we should not blame all Muslims for the actions of a few terrorists ”
Then these same brain dead politicians say “we must ban firearms because of the actions of a few lunatics” ?
