To those of us who live outside the benighted backwaters on both coasts where enacting ever more inventive restrictions of citizens’ gun rights is otherwise known as Tuesday, the state of affairs in Connecticut is more than a little disturbing. It’s an indicator of just how bad things have gotten in the laughably-named Constitution State that gun owners in New York feel the need to express their support. So why leave the burden to those similarly afflicted? You can show your support for your fellow gun owners in Connecticut, by sending us a “Stand Strong Connecticut” selfie like the one above – with a sign letting Nutmeg State gun owners know that you have their backs. Email your pic to [email protected] with STAND STRONG CONNECTICUT (all caps) in the subject field. We’ll publish them here and on our Facebook page. It’s the least we can do.

    • NYR – No idea

III% – Is meant to invoke the fact that the American Revolution was fought by only 3% of the population at the time.

      • One wonders what percentage of New Yorkers have followed Connecticut’s lead in resisting registration? Is Civil Disobedience in the air New York?

We will be finding out shortly as the April 15th deadline looms.

It is my hope that the bravery and commitment demonstrated by CT gun owners will inspire mass resistance, not only in New York, but in the rest of these United State’s, when their time inevitably comes.

    • Same here, not exactly sure of the R, but probably Revolutionaries. Sometimes you’ll see the “iii%” referred to as threepers, as in three percenters. The underlying idea is that while you may seem outnumbered or even alone, there are numerous examples in history, including our own, where tiny, organized, determined minorities have been able to effect monumental change. For the better or worse, depending on event.

      • Statistically speaking, homosexuals (who are willing to admit it on a survey, at least) make up less than 3% of the population, but look at the change they have been able to effect.

Small (even tiny) minorities can make a HUGE impact.

    • It amazes me how many people will answer a question even if they have no clue what they are talking about.

It stands for New York Revolution

      III%ers Movement

The III%ers are those who are willing to stand up for the freedoms that are our God given rights, and freedoms that are guaranteed by our Constitution. The term three percenters comes from the number of Patriots that fought against the British in the Revolutionary War. Here are a few facts:

•During the Revolutionary War, only THREE percent of the people actually fought against Great Britain.
•Only TEN percent of the citizens actively supported that three percent.
•Approximately TWENTY percent considered themselves to be on the side of the Revolution, but they did not actively participate.

  1. The 3% is in reference to the amount of the pop. that actually fought in the American Rev. It is spelled out in the sipsey street irregulars blog operated by Mike Vanderboegh.
The NYR could be his militias name….maybe New York Rifleman, I’m guessing.

  2. We must all stand with them! It will soon become a nation wide gun grab if the gun grabbers are allowed to win this battle.

    • I’d be willing to listen to ideas that would allow us all, peacefully, to go our separate ways. I could envision a more or less “L” shaped country for us, with the remaining left coast, great lake states and northeast free to follow their self-injurious statism to their bleeding hearts’ content.

      • The problem is that it’s just those major metro areas (LA, SF, NYC, Chicago, etc.) that are voting against gun ownership. The people in the rural areas of these states are being screwed over by a distant, uncaring, self-proclaimed elite.

This shit is unconstitutional, and it should not be allowed to stand even if it’s just taking place in some leftist hellhole.

      • Hey, let’s leave the Great Lakes states out of this….Michigan is (slowly) moving in the right direction. Were it not for the southeast corner we’d be in FAR better shape already.

      • I agree with you both. Some states are themselves divided. Heck, even in Texas, the big cities, within the city limits proper, are liberal. It’s the suburbs and rural areas that keep us running right. A massive swap in populations would be expected.

Texas and the like could accept refugees from non-Albany upstate New York, for example. Likewise, people from various college towns of the Great Plains states may elect to self-deport to Oregon or Rhode Island. America has seen mass migration a number of times before. It can be done.

There’s even precedent for countries peacefully dividing. Czech Republic and Slovakia come to mind. An occasional skirmish aside, Canada left the UK peacefully; in 1982, no less, not exactly ancient history. Australia and New Zealand did so as well, albeit very slowly, but still without big bloody revolutions. Even the U.S. peacefully transferred from protectorate status to sovereignty a number of Pacific nations following WWII. So there’s hope.

  3. When we care to send the best? Cash for bonds is best. TTAG should collect and pay out upon need.

  4. Prison tat! In some circles, the spider web means you harbor racist opinions. In certain others, it may mean you’ve killed a black person.

      • Spider-fist, Spider-fist,
        Does whatever a Spider-fist does!
Can he swing from a web?
        No he can’t, he’s a fist…

    • Yeah that is the common meaning although there are bright bulbs out there who decide to get it even with no such experience… sorta like sagging pants for white people.

    • The prison spider web tat is usually on the elbow, although it sometimes shows up on prisoners necks. The symbolism can vary. Spider web tattoos are also popular with people who have never seen the inside of a prison, so its not necessarily fair or accurate to call the guy in a picture a con, murderer or racist.

Moreover, if he is an ex-con, he would be committing a felony by handling that rifle. While cons aren’t normally MENSA members, it’s unlikely that he would be so stupid as to post a picture of himself in the commission of a felony.

    • He looks like he also has finger bones tattooed on his other hand (like an x-ray effect). Most likely, he’s a tattoo artist.

    • From what I understand, as it relates to prison tattoos, the cobweb represents time spent behind bars, each year = new row. I could be wrong though; I’ve thankfully never spent time in prison.

  5. Dude looks like Woody Harrelson.

Mods – this is not an ad hominem attack. Some folks would consider that a compliment.

    P.s. wassup with the 500/502’s?

  6. New York gun owners, your time to be on the hot seat is coming. Isnt April the final month that banned guns were to be registered? I hope that you make the same strong statement that Connecticut gun owners are doing. However unlike Governor Malloy who is a slow witted bureaucrat, New York has a sociopath psychotic governor in Cuomo who loves power and hates anything or anyone who stands in his way. I have no doubts that Cuomo would give the green light to use violence against anyone who doesnt comply with the SAFE Act. He has the New York state police who are little more than political shills.

    • I guess I wouldn’t put it past any of them to go full Gestapo, no matter what they look or sound like, just on banality of evil principle alone. Still, has NY’s Gov really demonstrated that kind of inclination before? Other than that he’d previously been Sec. of HUD, I think, I’m not really all that familiar with the younger Cuomo.

    • There aint enough Troopers in NY to pull off the BS.Once they hit the sticks and and anyplace north of Westchester and Rockland Counties for the most part theyd be mowed down.

  7. What if we show support by collecting a couple bucks and putting it in a slush fund to defend potential lawsuits/defense cases? Or perhaps we could get a link to one, if it already exists, and post our pics alongside that.

  8. it is about freedom, live free or die, choice is yours. there is a hostile takeover now happening in our goverment and our states. it will be costly if we do not stand together.we need to look at the big picture.look at who is running the country.where is our prosperity.

  9. Thanks for having the courage to speak up. It’s easy to criticize and not put up your own picture for public review.

  10. I would love to show my support, but I’m neck deep in shit in California.
Still angry that the NRA just walked from the fight here.
Gonna vote for the state to secede, then leave it.
