Calibers for Beginners: .357 Magnum

The .357 Magnum is a relatively misunderstood cartridge in today’s shooting world. It’s powerful, wonderfully effective, and probably one of the best all-around calibers ever made. But it’s both a great and a terrible beginner’s cartridge, depending on the load and the gun that it’s used in. On the plus side, a novice has the … Read more

Coming Soon: Dan Wesson 715 Review

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dJGWyAsSXps SHOT Show is going to delay my writing of the Dan Wesson 715 revolver review. While I always took what he said with a grain of salt, I tended to agree with him on this point. Sorry. I should have said “agreed” . . .

The Event and the ‘Stopping Power’ of the Mighty .380

DVRs are great. No more are we held hostage to the autocratic whims of the networks. So I was watching last week’s episode of The Event (hey…I’ve been busy) when one of the characters gives one of the others a pistol, telling him “We’ve chosen a .380 for it’s stopping power, and low-power cartridges so that the bullet won’t exit.” (Italics mine) Um…wait a tic, .380? Stopping power? Huh?!
