Silencer Review: Liberty Suppressors Cosmic

Selecting a suppressor — especially a first suppressor — is difficult. With the generally high cost of entry, $200 NFA tax, and ~nine-month wait in addition to various other fees and hassles, it’s a big decision. If you ask me, the Liberty Cosmic is the best first suppressor available. Rated for use on at least … Read more

Liberty Suppressors Goliath and Sovereign at SHOT Show 2017

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M1dvkDGrMm8 John from Liberty Suppressors gave us the walk-through on their two newest cans, the Goliath and the Sovereign, at SHOT Show this year. I think they’re both destined to be good sellers for the company. In fact, I’m already angling at a Goliath purchase myself. The Sovereign is a simple, short, lightweight, titanium suppressor … Read more

Gear Review: TTAG’s Rimfire Suppressor Round-Up

https://youtu.be/Qeqxz7khru8 Silencer Shop added me to their SOT, which means I can now borrow suppressors from their extensive inventory. In a couple of weeks I’ll be a Texan, and close enough to Silencer Shop’s HQ to also borrow professional dB metering equipment to start producing more meaningful, complete suppressor reviews for y’all. In the meantime, they … Read more

New From Arsenal Firearms: Suppressors and Rifles

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yvu31cTA95E Perhaps gunning to be the next “complete systems provider,” Arsenal Firearms USA has expanded into rifles and suppressors to add to their existing ammunition and STRYK pistols offerings. Better yet, the suppressors and rifles appear to be as unique and as innovative as the pistols are. For the time being, more info on the suppressors can be found … Read more

Gear Review: Q El Camino .22 LR Suppressor

The El Camino is the first silencer to come out of Q, Kevin Brittingham’s new venture. I believe for the first year it will be a Silencer Shop exclusive, and they loaned this one to me for a little quality time. As the Q guys were originally the AAC guys, and the AAC Element 2, which … Read more

Hands On With The Dead Air Wolverine PBS-1 AK-47 Suppressor

That’s right, the brain child of Mike Pappas and Gary Hughes, a functional silencer for any AK-47 — but, but, that’s impossible! — is about to hit dealer shelves. Thanks to a heck of a slick mounting system and carefully-designed baffles and bore, Dead Air Armament will have the first silencer truly capable of working on … Read more

NWSSE: GEMTECH Integra Uppers

Somehow we managed to miss GEMTECH‘s new Integra integrally-suppressed AR uppers at the NRA Annual Meetings this year, but my pal “CASES4CASES” found them at the Northwest Shooting Sports Expo. By pinning and welding a monocore suppressor to the end of a ~10″ barrel, GEMTECH achieves a 16.1″ “barrel” length and you avoid the hassles … Read more

Gun Review: CZ 455 Varmint Tacticool Suppressor-Ready Rifle

CZ_455-right-mantel

Believe it or not, I’ve only owned a single, manual-action .22 LR rifle in my life. It’s a pre-1968 (unsure exactly when it was made, but it has no serial number so it’s pre-Gun Control Act) WesternField 830, which I’ve had since I was a kid. Although it’s still a solid shooter, after my AAC Element 2 suppressor was released from NFA purgatory I decided it was time to find a new rifle that was a bit more modern and visually interesting, had a threaded muzzle, and was an absolute tack driver. I had hoped this would be PWS’ T3 Summit Rifle, as it’s sexy as hell and the toggle action is a blast to run, but its accuracy left me underwhelmed. Cue the CZ 455 Varmint Tacticool Suppressor-Ready rifle . . .
