Murdered Border Patrol agent Brian Terry’s cousin, Robert Heyer, read an opening statement to the oversight committee hearing on behalf of the entire Terry family. In that statement, he expressed their wishes for three simple things: 1) that BATFE be honest in forthcoming in providing answers to the committee, 2) that officials who made mistakes admit them and be held accountable and 3) that Terry’s murderers and those who facilitated the illegal straw purchases and movement of guns to Mexican cartels be prosecuted to the full extent of the law. They (and we) deserve nothing less.
