Lonegan wants Menendez charged for holding a rifle during press conference
Alinsky’s Rule No. 4: Make the enemy live up to its own book of rules . . .
Republican congressional candidate Steve Lonegan said Friday he plans to seek criminal charges against Sen. Bob Menendez for briefly holding a display gun at a press conference while standing next to a county sheriff.
Lonegan said Menendez (D-N.J.) violated New Jersey’s strict law on gun possession when he picked up an unloaded and tagged AR-15-style rifle from a display table during a press conference last month and held it for less than 20 seconds.
“I don’t believe this is what you need to go hunting. I don’t believe this is what you need to defend yourself,” Menendez said at the early March event outside the Essex County Public Safety Academy, while standing next to Essex County Sheriff Armando Fontoura. “The only thing this does is kill as many people in as short a time as possible.”
Donald Trump writes to Parkland student saying he wants to make it easier to buy guns
Who knows what he thinks today? Or what his position will be if Democrats with the House in November . . .
Donald Trump has been condemned for writing to a Parkland school student who begged for gun control to say he wants to make it easier to buy guns.
Drake Speno, 13, took put pen to paper after being put on lock-down and being forced to watch as bloodied survivors fled the massacre at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School.
The teen, who attends Westglade Middle School, right next to MSD, wrote to the president on February 18, four days after the massacre, begging for him to stop accepting NRA donations, as well as urging stricter background checks.
How British Gun Manufacturers Changed the Industrial World Lock, Stock and Barrel
You can thank guns for giving us the Industrial Revolution . . .
They were the biggest and most important gun makers in the country, and there was a really substantial archive about the Galtons. I think that’s not an accident. When Samuel Galton got into trouble with the Quaker church for being a gun maker, he printed a defense giving all his reasons why he was at ease in his mind. This family of Quakers was able to live with easy consciences, which made me wonder, “Are my assumptions about Quakers right? Are my assumptions about guns right?” For that to make sense either I’m misunderstanding Quakers, or misunderstanding guns, or misunderstanding manufacturing.
[Galton] says there’s nothing wrong with what he’s doing; anything else he could do would inevitably contribute to war. That opened up a whole new way of looking at the Industrial Revolution. I started to wonder, “What if we’ve all missed the big story about the Industrial Revolution? That so much of it was driven by war, to the extent that it would be hard to be a person of industry without being involved in war?” I persuaded myself that Galton was right. Sitting where he was in Birmingham, it would’ve been hard to be an industrialist and not be contributing some way to war.
The Galtons also had a bank that was founded on their gun wealth that was later folded into what is now HSBC. The other big Quaker banks connected to Galton’s work were Lloyd’s and Barclay’s. This wealth from gun-making is still with us today.
London Mayor Imposes ‘Knife Control’ Because Gun Control Hasn’t Worked
Well DUH! . . .
In England, an anti-knife charity called Only Cowards Carry dedicates itself to “weapons awareness” and places bins around cities for knife disposal, all of which feature the group’s name as a slogan.
With all due respect to CEO Caroline Shearer, who started the organization after her 17-year-old son was stabbed to death in 2012, this campaign should trouble any person who understands the natural right of self-defense, and the right to armed protection enshrined in the 1689 English Bill of Rights and the American Second Amendment.
Reason demands that true courage be defined by a person’s willingness to defend the life and liberty of himself and those around him.
Disarming law-abiding citizens demands, on the other hand, that courage be defined by a person’s trust in the police to imprison the correct suspect after the person is already dead.
That is not only absurd, but dangerous.
Second Amendment Activists to Rally Saturday Across Country
What are you doing tomorrow?
Gun rights activists will gather at state capitols across the country Saturday in a demonstration of unity following weeks of anti-gun rhetoric that included a call for the repeal of the Second Amendment by retired Supreme Court Associate Justice John Paul Stevens that outraged gun owners.
A full roster of scheduled events may be viewed here.
Organized by a group calling itself the National Constitutional Coalition of Patriotic Americans(NCCPA), these rallies are a response to the anti-gun “March For Our Lives” protests last month. Those demonstrations brought forth tens of thousands of gun control advocates as a response to the Feb. 14 school shooting in Parkland, Florida in which 17 students and adults were allegedly killed by suspect now in custody and facing multiple first-degree murder counts.
Marines Working with the Army on 5.56mm Rifle Round Replacement
What would you choose if you were the Marines’ procurement officer?
A senior Marine Corps official confirmed today that the service is lockstep with the Army’s effort to search for a rifle round more potent than the current 5.56mm round.
For months, senior Army officials have been telling Congress that the current 5.56mm Enhanced Performance Round is not potent enough to penetrate enemy body armor plates similar to U.S. military-issue rifle plates such as the Enhanced Small Arms Protective Insert, or ESAPI.
As a solution, the Army is experimenting with a plan to replace its M249 squad automatic weapon and M4 carbine with futuristic weapons that fire a 6.5mm case-telescoped round or something that falls between a 5.56mm and a 7.62mm round.
Apparently Charlie Kirk will not be allowed to speak at Marjory Stoneman Douglas HS, despite being invited by Kyle Kashuv, and Patrick Petty (whose sister was killed).
I guess Broward County Public Schools wants to promulgate a specific narrative. https://t.co/jzIY3UEWQW

‘Only cowards carry’. So the 75 yo man that cannot fight two 20 yo men is a coward for wanting to even the playing field?
The 18yo woman that stands 5-3 is a coward for wanting an equalizer against the 6-2 rapist?
Gun grabbers all need to be state supervised and removed from any position of responsibility. I swear, they’re all mentally ill.
What about the 78 year old man in England who was arrested for stabbing a home invader? Now the poor man is afraid to go home because the scumbag friends are threatening him. Is the a-hole mayor of London going to protect this man?
Of course not. The victim in this case isn’t a musloid.
If it’s the guy I read about recently, he probably can’t go home, because he’s in jail for murder, because Britons have no right to self defense.
Actually, he was cleared of all charges and allowed to return home. but he should have never been charged in the first place. but thats england for you. also canada. you cant even punch your attacker.
Unfortunately, laws that punish people for defending themselves tend to lead to a massive deterioration of public safety and a move toward vigilante justice. People tend to find a way to survive, and if survival means aligning with a faction of bad people,, like a gang, they will do it. Imagine if you are attacked and you are forced to defend yourself. If you know the price of life is prison if you report it, are you going to report it. No, you are going to cover it up. To summarize, law and order will break down…and considering London recently had to admit it has a severe crime problem after years of under reporting, it is obviously already happening.
Define “vigilante justice”. More following the progtard line.
This should be it’s own post:
Second Amendment Activists to Rally Saturday Across Country
What are you doing tomorrow?
if i was anywhere near one of the marches you could bet your last dollar i would be there. instead i am on the other side of the world in australia 🙁
Do they have shift keys on keybords in Australia? Just curious.
standard US english keyboard. i just dont always bother with capitilization. yes i probably should but not always
This “coward” stuff only gets said because the anti-side is desperately trying to push the narrative that the only people who own guns in America are:
1. White
2. Male
3. Obese
They try at multiple levels to challenge our “manhood” despite that every race and gender (Yes, even the new 5th and 6th genders) own and carry firearms.
Well, it was nice knowing you all.
Trump likely just kicked off WW3. He announced the US, France and Britain are attacking Syria.
Putin has promised to strike whoever hits targets in Syria.
Explosions are now being reported in Syria…
Hardly unexpected at this point. Rock and a hard place for the Western World on this one.
Russia cannot afford to go to war with us, or even engage in limited reprisals. It is badly isolated now, and that would ensure that it would be cut off completely from the west. Iran may attack–or try to attack Israel, and all of them will try to stop our aircraft (if used), but nothing else. Assad may try air assaults against US bases in eastern Syria, but I have to wonder if his pilots are all that interested in tangling with the USAF.
“Russia cannot afford to go to war with us, or even engage in limited reprisals.”
I’ll be very surprised if Putin doesn’t carry out his threat.
He can’t afford to lose face. His pride won’t allow him…
Zero chance of that, it’s not economically nor militarily realistic. Politically, its internationally disastrous, even it fits in domestic nationalistic policy.
“Statement by the Ambassador of Russia to the USA Anatoly Antonov on the strikes on Syria
The worst apprehensions have come true. Our warnings have been left unheard.
A pre-designed scenario is being implemented. Again, we are being threatened. We warned that such actions will not be left without consequences.
All responsibility for them rests with Washington, London and Paris.
Insulting the President of Russia is unacceptable and inadmissible.
The U.S. – the possessor of the biggest arsenal of chemical weapons – has no moral right to blame other countries.”
Note one particular line in there :
“We warned that such actions will not be left without consequences.”
Thou shalt not disrespect Putin…
My 3 year old sounds just like that, has about the same capability too.
There is no cutting off of Russia from the west.
Europe *depends* on Russian natural gas to keep warm in the winter…
It’s springtime baby.
Winter is *always* around the corner…
There will be no WWIII stemming from this action. Would you like to make a bet? Didn’t think so. What is you answer to this chemical attack, do nothing so every two bit dictator feels free to make and use chemical weapons? Yeah, that’s great.
The Russians are now characterizing this as an attack on the Soviet Union :
“10:35 p.m.
A highly placed Russian politician is likening President Donald Trump to Adolf Hitler after the launch of airstrikes against Syria, and says he regards the action as a move against Russia.
Alexander Sherin, deputy head of the State Duma’s defense committee, says Trump “can be called Adolf Hitler No. 2 of our time — because, you see, he even chose the time that Hitler attacked the Soviet Union.”
That’s according to state news agency RIA-Novosti. The Nazi forces’ opening attack against the USSR in 1941 was launched around 4 a.m.”
http://www.newser.com/article/999ab6849c3945278713786a7928b0db/the-latest-russian-official-likens-trump-to-hitler.html
Are you still so sure Putin won’t do anything?
Mein Gott! We better be afraid! The big bad Russians are angry! Are you a Russian troll by chance? You certainly sound like one.
Hey, your talking about a Navy that issues a tug boat with their aircraft carrier, because it cannot run on its engines. Their awesome aircraft are running at 9% combat capable.
They do make decent S2A missiles, they have 12 S 300/400 with 36 missiles and 1 reload set, if needed would be taken out in about 15 minutes as they’re static around Tartus Naval Base and Khmeimim Air Base.
The AK12 and AN94 are nice, but 74M is still mostly used, being replaced by the 12 though. But if we’re in rifle range were doing war wrong with them.
Their drone coverage is. oh, none. Helicopter coverage, vintage, but capable if no air defense, i.e. not Western Military, any of them.
Their Navy is…sub par. Far below almost anyone else in an ocean, or large lake. Not horrible subs.
Cyber, meh, their pretty good, not as good as the Chinese, or any Western Power, but it could cause civilian agita, probably. Influence peddling and industrial trolling is not a war fighting capability.
Nukes, they have lots of nukes, so are they more or less likely to use the one thing they have an overmatch in? Because with nukes, the only match that matters is first strike.
And, no world power is going to escalate to global thermonuclear war of Assad.
All they need is one nuke to get through for it to be the worst war in American history.
Aaaand you think Russia is going nuclear over Assad?
Our president isn’t known for his moderation on anything, hookers or a slight insult, a nuke? come on, we’d be putting on a 1985 style retaliatory strike package, he couldn’t get to the football fast enough.
And Putin knows it, he can push, he can talk, he can throw complements by the truckload, but Trump gives no fucks about the slightest insult, he’s at response turned up to 11.
Or he could be a giant pussy and just tweet at him, but you’re not positive of either, so take it down a notch, no one is lobbing a nuke at us. Or at least none of these people, Lil Kim has lost the front page, so it be more likely to be him at this point.
A EMP strike against the US mainland would be all it takes.
The US is not as prepared for this as some think we are.
Well, for an effective EMP strike on the US, it would require more than 30 for a “Red Dawn” scenario, and since there’s never been a large scale test that an EMP would do what science fiction books say it would.
Starfish Prime was science fact.
All it would take is one over the upper east coast to cause damage to financial institutions, say in New York. The resulting chaos would be unimaginable. ATMs empty, banks closed, power grid damaged and when the food runs out, especially items like meat that needs refrigeration, people will flee to wherever they believe they can survive.
It would only take one to cause partial societial collapse.
Not our monkeys, not our circus, not our business. More Americans are dying from opioid chemicals than Syrians are dying from supposed (false-flag) gas attacks.
So who, pray tell, do you think carried out the chemical attacks, the British?
Rogue:
https://www.zerohedge.com/news/2018-04-13/watch-former-head-british-armed-forces-tells-truth-about-syria-cut-sky-news
” ‘Assad-is-bad’ narrative is all that is allowed, when General Jonathan Shaw, the former Commander of British Armed Forces in Iraq, dares to go ‘off script’ while being interviewed by Sky News, he is abruptly cut off…”
Now why do you suppose that such speech as that is forbidden? Maybe it would impact the sheeple’s mental conditioning?
Zerohedge? AYFKM, its not worth the paper its written on,and they don’t use paper, and its not even zerohedge, its zeroheadless quoting random dummies, and attributing it to “former head of UK military”. Who said they were just making shit up. My cousin’s neighbor’s brother’s friend Bob, knows a guy from his gym, that………Good lord…. Good lord
Their fucking quote was directly from RT that would be Russia Today, their fucking state newspaper…Good lord.
I lost 10 IQ points just for having looked at that, and its your fault. ESAD
Former Zero Hedge writer Colin Lokey said that he was pressured to frame issues in a way he felt was “disingenuous,” summarizing its political stances as “Russia=good. Obama=idiot. Bashar al-Assad=benevolent leader. John Kerry=dunce. Vladimir Putin=greatest leader in the history of statecraft.” Zero Hedge founder Daniel Ivandjiiski, in response, said that Lokey could write “anything and everything he wanted directly without anyone writing over it.”[20] On leaving, Lokey said: “I can’t be a 24-hour cheerleader for Hezbollah, Moscow, Tehran, Beijing, and Trump anymore. It’s wrong. Period. I know it gets you views now, but it will kill your brand over the long run. This isn’t a revolution. It’s a joke.”
AAAHHHH! ZERO FUCKING HEDGE AAAAHHHH!!!!
Actual Russian paid fake news site, was just quoted as the source “that the British did it” As their UN Diploturd said today. FFS.
AAAHHHH! ZERO FUCKING HEDGE AAAAHHHH!!!
rogue:
So you don’t even want to talk about the questions raised by the British General, but you DO believe some anonymous video on youtube, when the local doctors, hospitals, and even the medical student at said hospitals say they haven’t seen, nor treated, a single victim of chemical poisoning?
Well, that seems to show where your brain is at. So, regardless of your insults and name calling, is it possible for you to dream up a REASON why said general may have been knocked off air for asking such a question?
No, don’t believe every intelligence agency in the world. You should believe Russian Intel and their proxy propaganda pages. Sure You Do You.
And Assad is an evil fuckhead who needs to die.
And it wasn’t a British General, it was a made up by RT. The person talking isn’t even a private. Jeezus
So this guy doesn’t actually exist:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alan_West,_Baron_West_of_Spithead
I suppose this isn’t actually SecDef Mattis saying that he has NO EVIDENCE that a chemical attack occurred in Syria either?:
https://www.c-span.org/video/?444080-1/secretary-mattis-confident-syria-responsible-chemical-attack
QUOTING MATTIS at 12:57: “I cannot tell you that we have evidence…”
So what WILL you believe? Do you believe the US even has a Secretary of ‘Defense’? Do you believe that a General named Mattis exists? Is there a United States? Are you and I really here?
How far do your delusions extend?
Kenneth, go away. You are either a UI, or a paid troll, try to make it less obvious.
to B rad the sock puppet:
Can you make me???? Obviously someone here does NOT believe in free speech. See can you guess who that is? Can you and your string puller figure out how to stop the free flow of Information? Or is disinformation strategy #5, Sidetrack opponents with name calling and ridicule, the only one of the 25 that you know?
https://vigilantcitizen.com/latestnews/the-25-rules-of-disinformation/
Let pretend Asad is absolutely responsible (which doesn’t really make any sense). Basically no one in the international community cares when Asad kills civilians with other methods, so why are chemical weapons special? The civilians are still dead either way.
Trump shouldn’t be enforcing Obama’s stupid red line. Look at Iraq, Afghanistan, & Libya. Are you incapable of learning anything? Nation building in the middle east is a fool’s errand. Regime change is a bad idea. Squashing the terrorists over there with limited targeted operations should be the limit of our involvement.
Blah, blah, blah. Relax!. It’s propaganda. The British didn’t attack Syrian rebels with chemical weapons, the Syrian government did. We need to act or there will be no more “red lines”. Russia is not going to risk annihilation to seek revenge against an attack on a country Russia is trying to exploit to get influence in the middle east. This is just USSR style “diplomacy”. They are trying to shape public opinion – essentially scare the people in Western countries into forcing Western politicians to capitulate. This has played out exactly like this a thousand times before during the Cold War.
Someone please tell me that the Brits aren’t seriously asking people to turn in their kitchen knives.
“Someone please tell me that the Brits aren’t seriously asking people to turn in their kitchen knives.”
Why, yes, they are.
Please deposit them in a convenient knife receptacle that has a ‘Cookie Monster’ sticker on it.
(You just can’t make that shit up!!!)
Oh c’mon now! Coddle me! I need to be in denial, so please don’t burst my bubble.
But more seriously, you’re right that the cookie monster doesn’t exactly make them seem more reasonable. Not that anything could, but still.
If we don’t get ‘Cookie Monster’-themed gun receptacles here in the USA, I’m gonna be pissed.
Fuckit – I’m gonna knock out 20 miles on the bike. Should I wear sunglasses in case Tampa’s SOCOM gets a nuke?
It’s not a joke, and it is actually crazies than you think. Take a look at this:
https://twitter.com/MPSRegentsPark/status/974645778558980096?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw
I hope the Marines do pick a new rifle round, but really only so that millions of tons of ammunition stored get sold as “military surplus”, to us civilians. I’m hoping 5.55 drops to about 10 cents a round
I’d like to see .308 (7.62 nato) Gas piston rifles phased in to service; Will never happen tho.
weight, amount carried by soldiers bla, bla, bla, how about killing what yall shoot at instead of filling the air with lead>(5.56) everyone knows 30-06 and .308 are true battle calibers.
Seems to me a 6.5 or 6.8 would solve all our problems. Garand originally chambered the M1 for .676 cal. Maybe he was 80 years ahead of his time.
Maybe keep 5.56, but make them explode?
Geez….. whats with all the retro comments? Piston .308 rifle = M14…. exploding 5.56? That sounds like early 5.56 out of 20″ barrels. The ones with the thinned out cannelure.
6.5mm Grendel gas piston rifles.
Easy 6×45 is an extremely potent round. Minimal changes to manufacturing, same mags, same guns.
Euronam,
Our military wants rifle rounds that will penetrate light armor plates at longer ranges. That means we need rifle round with a really high muzzle velocity which retains that velocity down range as long as possible. In other words, they need a rifle round with really high muzzle velocity and an excellent ballistic coefficient. I am thinking .243 Winchester (which would be something like 6.1 mm) gets pretty close while keeping weight and recoil within reason.
“Who knows what he thinks today? Or what his position will be if Democrats with the House in November . . .”
Well that’s pretty snarky, Dan. At least we have someone in the presidency who openly supports gun-rights. Certainly none of the progressive/fascists who want political power would support 2nd amendment rights—they all want to confiscate guns. Oh sure, there’s pissing and moaning about Trump banning bump-fire stocks but you have to admit that he did it via a presidential order and not a legislative act. Presidential orders are easily changed while laws are far more permanent. Doing that took the issue off the table, satisfying the people who wanted government to “do something” while not opening the door legislative regulation of firearm design.
That’s BS!
We need someone who pushes for furtherance of gun rights, not just treads water until the Dems get back power and nibble a bit more.
Trump had my vote until the bump stock thing, and I don’t own bump stocks, don’t plan on buying one and have never bump fired a gun… but if you give them an inch…
The only way I would be a believer is to push grouch the HPA and concealer carry reciprocity…. anything less is and will be a fail.
This is a strategy game. This will not be won by charging up every little hill.
Bump stocks are range toys, and they really have no legitimate use for a citizen militia as intended in the 2nd amendment. Full auto and artillery, yes, they ought to be covered by the 2nd amendment; bump stocks, no, they really shouldn’t be. So, regardless of Trumps intent, this is not worth a direct public political debate. Let’s take a leftist talking point off the table, keep the BATF busy trying to figure out how to enforce this ineffective, stupid ban, and hit the left where it is most affective.
We need more fair minded Supreme Court justices. See, if we do not get our judiciary to accurately interpret the Constitution, nothing else matters. The long game is to replace the aging leftist justices with those who will interpret the constitution as the founders intended.
To summarize, do not charge up every hill. Instead, look at the long game, and only charge up those hills that will make a real difference.
Well,….. allong those lines Mom’s Demand Action and all the other Bloomburg hatchet jobs also support gun rights. They all SAY they support the second ammendment and that nobody is going to take your guns away the same way Donald Trump SAYS he supports gun rights….. In practice though, what has Trump DONE to make you believe he supports gun rights? Push for a bump stock ban? Push for raising the gun purchase age? Promote anti gun judges to the federal circuit courts?…. Ya, he says a lot of things about supporting the second ammendment.
Trump does dribble a lot. After all it is hard to read the prompt screen if you aren’t smart enough to read correctly in the first place. He has a hard time getting a full sentence out, all by himself that is. He talks out both sides of his mouth ,simultaneously. I gave up trying to listen to his insanity long ago.
Not grouch… through 🙂
“I don’t believe this is what you need to go hunting. I don’t believe this is what you need to defend yourself,” “The only thing this does is kill as many people in as short a time as possible.”
Well little Stevie Lonegan, I don’t believe that you need to open your pie hole and spew out your simple minded opinions. Oh, what’s that? There is a 1A? There is a 2A too! So STFU if you can’t honor your position and support the constitution, put the rifle down before IT kills someone in the 20 seconds that you fondled it, and go to prison for violating the law.
My apologies Steve Lonegan, as I intended to attribute the quotes to little Bobbie Menendez.
If six armed thugs attacked your house at 3 a.m., the only way you could defend yourself and yours would be with a weapon that was designed to kill as many people in as short a time as possible.
I do want to have a Second Amendment rally, and I was hoping when I first heard of this one that it would be the one, but the organization or lack thereof has been stunning. Basically just a Facebook page with little to no information on who, what, when, etc. I hope it will be good but I think we need to work on this… Showing up on ttag the night before is too late. I know we don’t have Grammy or Oscar nominated producers but I would hope to see “hi I’m Luis, come march with me. I am John Boch, or we are SAF or GOA, join us, hi this is Chris Cox, meet me at the State House steps.” If you want to mobilize people you need to pitch it.
“Only Cowards Carry”
Give up and die bravely! For England!
The people of the UK have already given up their pistols, revolvers, rifles, and shotguns, now they’re being told to give up their knives. They have been surrendering their daughters to service Muslim radical rapists, so handing over the last vestiges of defensive weaponry is just the next step.
They are so accustomed to prostituting themselves to the state for scraps that they don’t even see the boot on their own neck.
Pretty funny Menendez holding that AR…shoulda’ been convicted of corruption(AND barely mentioned trial by the lamestream media). Joizey…yeah Donnie done it. No strategic importance in Syria. I voted for the nationalist Trump-and the NY idiot who claimed to support gun rights. We are perilously close to the end. As in Damascus reduced to a cinder in one night. Or ISRAEL using the Samson option. The Iraq war was started for less…
Even so COME LORD JESUS.
Or supposed yellow cake uranium or cables from Germany to Mexico or thinking attacking Fort Sumpter wouldn’t start a war…
Calm your tits people. Nobody is gonna go nuclear over Syria.
Exactly. It’s not like some guy assassinated the Archduke of Austria or something.
The ultimate irony of the assassination of the Archduke is that he was the one guy in the Austrian imperial family who wanted to do something good for the Slavs. And they’re the ones that killed him.
He was so disliked by Emperor Franz Joseph that when they called him and told him his heir Ferdinand was dead he basically said “oh, thats too bad”. The Austrians didn’t even start threatening Serbia for a solid two weeks, which is when the Germans started telling them how much they were being disrespected by the Serbs and they should kick their asses.
Marjory Stoneman Douglas HS’s distain for the Constitution, specifically the Second amendment is spreading now to the First amendment .
Does not the public fund this institution.
Plenty of choices around 6.5 to 7 mm.
FN FAL was originally designed in .280 British or short 7 mm. Specs are very impressive even today but USA insisted NATO round had to be .30 cal and then went to M16. Swedes went with 6.5 by 55 for years.
I use 30-06 for a lot of hunting and carried an M60 years ago but for a one size fits all military round 6.5 mm would be my choice.
The 6.5×55 round goes back more than a few years… it goes back to the 1890’s, and the Mauser 93/94, and then the Swede’s own Mauser 96 action.
The 6.5×55 is more proof of my assertion that most all rounds developed since WWII are superfluous. You can do almost anything you want with rounds developed before WWII – and the 6.5×55 has been showing good results in the hands of shootists for over a century. The chamber/throat are such that you can load long bullets with excellent sectional density, and the Swedes (and others) have been hunting large game such as caribou and moose for a century with this round.
The only downside of the 6.5×55 for American shooters is this: The case rim is a tad larger than our .308 and .30-06 rounds, which are the basis for so many other rounds in the American rifle catalog. As a result of the overall length of the 6.5×55, a long action (ie, .30-06 length) is needed, and then you need a gunsmith to open the boltface a tad to allow it to pick up the ’55’s case head, which is 0.480″ vs. the .30-06’s 0.473″.
“Lonegan wants Menendez charged for holding a rifle during press conference”
Like President Grant said: “Laws are to govern all alike — those opposed as well as those who favor them. I know no method to secure the repeal of bad or obnoxious laws so effective as their stringent execution.”
6-7mm cartridges could work well but a lot of body armor can shrug off hits from 7.62×51. So, how expensive will they have to go to reach their results? I have a few guns in 6.5 Grendel, 6.5 Creedmoor, and 6.5 Sweedemoor (yes, it’s a joke). I have an m94 Carbine in 6 5×55. The first time I fired it, I thought I was in for an unpleasant experience. I pulled the trigger and it was a slight push. Very pleasant, even in that small rifle. I can say the same about the other two 6.5s. I have a 6mm Creedmoor also and it’s even a bit lighter. You can now get 28 round 6.5 Grendel mags giving you almost the firepower of 5.56. I built a 14.5 inch pistol to do some testing with a shorter barrel. I also have a 22″ Grendel rifle that shoots very accurately.
Is that… Cookie Monster? Oh Lord above, that is FUNNY! XD
On a side note, I checked out the NCCPA link and I have to say, it sucks. I wanted to see if there was something happening locally, and it was just too confusing to navigate. I don’t know if something is or isn’t happening. =/
WRT GOP politicos looking at cutting off Citibank’s sweet deal with the federal government, rock on. That the party in power is even *talking* about taking such an action is probably going to cause the Citibank PR flaks / in-house SJW’s who pushed the anti-2A agenda to get demoted back to the mailroom. (The Georgia legislature’s brilliant move against Delta Airlines is indeed the template here.)
Corporate virtue signaling is all well and good, and may get the bigwigs bon mots at the trendy society cocktail parties in Manhattan / the Hamptons / Brentwood / Georgetown / etc. But when such oh-so-chic positions might seriously affect the bottom line (and the bonuses / stock options of upper management), they become expendable (as do the people who pushed the SJW agenda).
If the NRA has any sense, it’ll quietly be pushing some of its political allies in places like Texas to similarly jack with Citibank et al. Show corporate America that this kind of SJW activism *will* cost them real money, and they’ll quit trying it.
I thought the 6.8SPC was to replace the 5.56. 6.8 with a 90 grain bullets still moves at almost 3000fps. The best of both worlds IMHO. Instead the Army bought new handguns…. What a waste.
Trump needs to get on the ball and either support us or not, lip service ain’t gonna cut it.
I just want to be sure I understand this. The anti-gun crowd wants to ban “AR-15 assault-style weapons” because they are “high-powered, military-grade weapons meant only to kill,” but the Marines and Army want to replace the current weaponry firing the same round because it is not high-powered enough to kill or wound the enemy — or one might say, it is neither high-powered nor military-grade. Do I have that right?
Yep.
Here’s the irony:
I was just reviewing a history of the Wagon Box Fight with some tourists here in Wyoming. A small group of soldiers (less than 30), some woodcutters (less than a dozen) and a few other civilians held off a couple thousand of Red Cloud’s warriors with single-shot Springfield 1866 rifles. These were an early instance of the “trapdoor” breech-loading mechanism, chambered in the new government centerfire round, the .50-70, and they were hurling a 450 grain lead pill downrange.
I’ve seen what one of these 450gr pure lead bullets does to a deer. It makes a modern, jacketed bullet look tame by comparison.
According to historians, the soldiers at the Wagon Box Fight were able to load & fire about 15 to 20 rounds per minute from these breech-loading, single-shot rifles. I reckon that the threat of death and disfigurement tends to focus one’s mind rather keenly.
Single shot rifles sound like a military grade weapon to me. Were the soldiers assaulting the Injuns? If so and they were painted black, then they would be assault rifles with that thingy that goes up.
1. I still don’t see any way past the budgetary barriers to adopt a new round, much less a new rifle, for either the Marines alone or the entire US light rifle user base. Ain’t gonna happen. This, and all such “studies” and “programs” are a waste of taxpayer money. Want to spend the money more effectively? Ramp up production of the M262 round.
2. The arms industry brought up the precision machining industry – ie, machine tools. This is especially true in the US, because after the War of 1812, the Brits embargoed anything resembling machine tools from being shipped to the US. Seems they had a hissy fit about this for the next several decades – until the South approached them for tooling during the Civil War.
Let’s go through some of the ideas for manufacturing that came from guns. Interchangeable parts? Tolerances and allowances on manufactured sub-components of assemblies? First done for guns, for weapons contracts to the Dep’t of War following 1812. You’ve all heard of Eli Whitney and his cotton gin, right? What you probably don’t know is that the cotton gin was a fast-n-dirty project to finance his ideas about how to build guns. Whitney built only a few guns with his tolerances/allowances idea, but the idea caught on and needed precision measurement and machining.
Some of the names you might know today? Pratt & Whitney. Today you know them as makers of jet engines. Truth is, Mr. Pratt & Mr. Whitney started a company in 1860 to make precision tooling for the gun trade:

Their name is attached to jet engines because they invested $250K in a company at the start of the aviation industry, and allowed that subsidiary to use the P&W name.
3. London’s knife control/turn-ins: This is what happens in a feminized society. England’s soy-boys will turn in their knives. Their “refugee” population… will not.
With all due respect to CEO Caroline Shearer, who started the organization after her 17-year-old son was stabbed to death in 2012,
Why? She is going to make matters worse
Criminals are going to turn in their knives?
Radical Fuzzy Muzzies turn theirs in?
Yeah, right.
The Brits are also setting up bins all over Londonistan so British men can turn in their testicles.
It’s my opinion the military should just adopt the 243 or 260 rem as their duty cartridge and be done. The creedmoors would work too. Ar10 243 would be a fine battle rifle. No recoil, crazy penetration energy, been around a while, and still not too heavy.
I know the logistics probably would be impossible, but in a perfect world that’d be plenty to punch through say thick Russians in armor.
How many days until a statue is erected in front of the UN with a knife blade twisted in a knot, aka the revolver the left loves? You know it will be there soon…
FAL in 7mm Mauser. Perfection that even Gaston can’t match.
” Menendez said at the early March event outside the Essex County Public Safety Academy, while standing next to Essex County Sheriff Armando Fontoura. “The only thing this does is kill as many people in as short a time as possible.””
So Sheriff Armando won’t complain if he requires all county police to turn in their patrol rifles to be crushed, right?
Everyone should play by the same rules, and police don’t need machines that are only good for mass murder.
“You can thank guns for giving us the Industrial Revolution . . .”
And trains…. don’t forget trains 😅
