The only reason this website exists: I cannot leave well enough alone. Take, for example, John Brennan, President’s Obama’s pick for CIA Director. Sherman, set the Way Back Machine for September 2010 [via larouchepac.com]. “John O. Brennan, Deputy National Security Advisor for Homeland Security and Counterterrorism and Assistant to the President . . . has been linked directly through former White House National Security Director for North America, Kevin O’Reilly and ATF Special Agent in Charge in Phoenix William Newell, to Operation Fast and Furious.” Brennan flew to Phoenix and met with Newell, during which the ATF’s illegal anti-gun running gun-running op [sic] was discussed . . .
After which Brennan was fully briefed on Fast and Furious. Did ANY major news outlet mention this? No. Will the Senate hearings explore this issue? Nope. It’s a slap in the face of the parents of U.S. Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry, murdered by drug thugs wielding ATF-enabled firearms.
And now for your daily dose of gun control infamy and a few ballistic bon-bons . . .

Will assault rifle ban end gun violence? What the hell kind of question is that? Still props to the PA CBS affiliate for coming to the right conclusion.

Vermont bill is a tax, that is the way it should be phrased. For those that do not buy a firearm will be taxed.
Thanks to the SCOTUS ruling, people can be taxed for not buying an item, so there is nothing legally wrong with the tax.
Also, the bill was proposed over ten years ago. It’s an old story that’s recirculating:

Yeah I know
code breakers are going “You woke me up for THIS!”
LOL
Yeah, We did, and the code is not even on this site.
The 16.5″ black Gunsite Scout was already on my watch list. The stainless version (18″ barrel) being released makes the decision to pull the trigger on a purchase just a bit more complicated.
I got eh blued version and don’t regret it. Got 3 of the new polymer mags too. Great rifle!!
If either one crossed my path at a good price I’d be opening my wallet. I’m curious as to why they went to an 18″ barrel with the stainless. I like stainless (my stainless Mini-14 went three days covered in sweat and javelina blood with no detriment to the finish) but would prefer the 16.5″ barrel. 1 1/2″ doesn’t amount to much velocity-wise yet is much handier in brush.
Has anyone shot a Ruger Gunsite Rifle? I have always wanted a .308 rifle and I would not be opposed to something more compact; any info would be appreciated.
When I see a picture of a fallen American, a man that dedicated every working moment of his professional life to protect America, all of America, and then realise that Barrack Hussien Obamma and Eric Holder
Conspired to engineer his death, and the death of MANY OTHER Americans.
MY HEART BREAKS
I have one and the iron sights are good for 200 yard shots on a 12 inch steel gong for me. It’s a loud sob, but the easy handling short barrel gsr is magic in your hands.
Loud indeed. I’ve got a claymore muzzle brake on mine to at least throw it downrange more.
Hopefully, questions about Fast and Furious will come up during Brennan’s confirmation.
If any, they will probably be softball questions.
I own a Gunsite, and let me tell you it’s a very nice gun. The barrel is free floated and very accurate, I think it’s a bit better than the Mossberg MVP only because it is in .308 . The Magazines are pretty expensive but the rifle as a whole is very adaptable. Anything more specific you want to know I’d be happy to fill you in on.
couldyoubeabiggernarc?
When you say “pretty expensive” I’m thinking you are referring to the original metal mags. Have you tried the newer polymer mags which sell for $30-40? Wondering if they are reliable.
A review on the polymer mags would be cool. I’ve been wanting that rifle since it came out.
The Vermont proposal: I’m 100% in favor of it. If they want to use valuable and costly police resources, they should have to pay for it. If they don’t, they should get a gun. Seems simple enough to me.
The death of Brian Terry was what really set me off into the land of indifference on many things (Firearms, and the 2nd isn’t one of them). I’m mostly indifferent to our nation pulling itself together, and not going down the road that the Western Roman empire traveled.
I figure we’re about 75-150 or so years, at best, before things really start to go downhill. Sometime before then I predict we’re going to have a major loss, (an EMP/CME, a major military loss, a loss of an aircraft carrier, a nuke going off in a major city that sort of thing…) people around the globe will realize that we’re not invincible, they’ll smell blood in the water, and we’ll be done. It’s happened before, it’ll happen again.
One of our guys was killed, by a group of barbarians, carrying weapons given to them by another set of our own guys. That’s not the way a government that wants to continue to exist operates. That’s not the way a society that wants to continue to exists operates…
Imagine a Roman Centurion along Hadrian’s Wall in the year 350 AD or so. Imagine him being over run and killed by bands of barbarian Picts and other non-Roman Britons who are carrying swords given to them by a Roman bureaucrat in Londinium.
That’s basically what we’ve got.
75-150 years? That’s damn optimistic. I am in the 10-20 year camp myself. Sooner if they actually pass gun control with confiscation
Same as it ever was.
Nice “Talking Heads” song reference Robert!!!
Have you or any of the other guys checked into the Guns Across America & More Guns=Less Crime protest’s scheduled for Jan 19th yet?

I am trying to collect a list a local media outlet’s tiplines(emails/webforms), so that we can distribute these stories or for that matter any other story/subject which needs national attention.
I hope to use this subreddit to collect tiplines so we can spread the news to local outlets and subsequently be picked up by national media. if it takes of, maybe even create a website which will utilize the data to automate the process.

There are so many things these days that break my heart but every time I see a picture of Mr. Terry it breaks a little more. From a fellow Arizonan, you will never, ever be forgotten.
Great. The national gun-grabbers want to legislate us back in time by 100 years and leave modern weapons entirely in the hands of criminals…and in my own state, some dingbat legislator from Poulsbo wants to tell me I can’t even use my own firearms — which happen to be of 19th-century design because I wanted them that way, not because the government told me I couldn’t have anything else — to defend my own home and family.
Well, Rep. Sherry Appleby, I’ve already sent letters to Washington’s congressional contingent, so it won’t be but a minor annoyance to edit and send one to you, too. And while I’m at it, the magic of email will help me tell the rest of the state legislature what they ought to do with your duty-to-retreat nonsense (though I’m betting most of them already know). I can’t vote against you because I’m not in your district (thank God), but when you’re up for election, I’m going to do everything I can to make sure your opponent defeats you. Maybe Poulsbo is full of weenies just like you who don’t care, but I’ll make good and sure everybody in your district knows what you tried to do to our state.
Okay…breathe. Got that out of my system, now it’s time to get to work on a polite, yet strongly worded letter. I know there are several other Washingtonians reading TTAG — let’s get to work and tell everyone we know to send this lady packing.
“Chrysler was a major taxpayer teat sucker that disappeared billions in bailout bucks all for the benefit of the UAW”
actually the first bailout came in the form of the adoption of the M1 Abrams tank. The GM XM1, a superior design, was shelved for Chrysler’s XM1 which was one of the first bailouts that Chrysler received.
I’ve got a couple if polymer mags but I find that they don’t feed as well as the metal ones do, and for the applications you would use this rifle for, I’d rather carry a bit more weight in exchange for a reliable feed.
