The good news: TTAG is growing by leaps and bounds. New writers. New readers. Lots of readers making comments. It’s all good. And aside from a few tech glitches lately (our downtime Friday night/Saturday morning was due to a router problem at our server farm), everything’s been working smoothly. Which brings me to a comment of my own.
You might have noticed that, when you register as a TTAG member, you’ll see an icon next to your name, an icon that looks as if you’re a fan of Pennsylvania Dutch art. Turns out, WordPress automatically assigns an icon to each user, unless you already have one. “Where do you get an icon,” you might ask. Good question. It’s obviously not school of the bleedin’ obvious material, ’cause if it was, everybody would have one. The good news is that it’s really easy to change this geometric icon thingy into something that more accurately represents you.
Head on over to gravatar.com. Give Gravatar your email address (hint: it needs to be the same one you used to sign up for TTAG) and they will send you a login to gravatar.com. Visit the site again, login, and you’ll be able to create your own icon – either from your own photos, your artwork, or a webcam image. There are no major restrictions on what you can use for your gravatar, other than you really don’t wanna do something pornographic.
So we’d like to encourage you to hie thee over to Gravatar and set up your own icon. (You don’t have to, but it looks every so much cooler if your contributions have an icon attached.) As a bonus, your Gravatar icon works all over the web, for not only other blogs, but social media sites.
Bottom line, we’re glad you’re here, icon or no. But we’d love to see you hang around and contribute, too. So get involved. Start with your icon. Go ahead. We’ll wait here for you.
Congratulations on your continued success TTAG and I really like your new minerature quilts. 😉
