The Truth About Guns has been following the ATF’s Gunwalker Scandal for some time. That’s the name given by Gun Rights Examiner writer David Codrea to the stink surrounding the revelation that the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (and Really Big Fires) allowed smugglers to purchase guns in the United States—and failed to intervene in their journey down the so-called Iron River to Mexico. (Codrea was riffing on the name of the ATF’s interdiction efforts: Project Gunrunner.) The scandal got serious when smugglers used one of those guns to murder U.S. Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry. Allegations of an ATF coverup ensued. And now we learn that Mexican drug thugs used another Gunwalker gun to murder ICE Special Agent Zapata. Time to sort out who did what when, who knew what when, and what’s going to happen now.

  1. It’s the biggest government scandal since Watergate (where nobody got killed), but the Lamestream Media his devoted exactly five minutes to Project Gunwalker. Without the Gun Rights Examiner, the Sipsey Street Irregulars and TTAG, among others, this whole mess would have been buried a long time ago.

    • Hardly a word from any of the anti-gun blogs either. It makes me wonder if they approve of such abuses that have led to the murder of two US agents.

    • Ralph,
I hate to disagree with you, and I do believe that these murders of federal agents must be answered for but, this is not even the most disgusting scandal that the atf has been involved in much less the biggest scandal ever. The murder of 74 American citizens, many of whom were women, and children I feel is much worse, or the murder of a child and mother at Ruby Ridge. I don’t mean to sound like a dick but, law enforcement officers know when they leave their house it may be the last time, whereas American citizens should be able to live their lives without fear of being gunned down by their own government goons.

  2. This live chat is a brilliant idea, and I hope you guys do this on a regular basis. Keep up the great work RF and Brad, you guys really do rule.

  3. i would have liked to have asked him about the US and Mex presidents speach but couldnt. Currently, the only web access I get is on my phone and it does not do video or webchats very well. Could a synopsis of the conversation be posted

  4. Here is my question.
The Dealers that were told by ATF to let the sales go through.
Were the allowed to keep the sales money?
If this were a true undercover reverse buy, The cash used in the sale would be evidence.
Therefore ATF would have to seize the cash from the FFL Dealer and either give him a receipt or recompense.
If the dealers have these receipts then ATF can not cover this up.
If they do not, then it is their word against ATF, and ATF has deniablity.

If the later is true, then everyone in the administration wins.
They get to say “See we told you so, move along no story here go back and watch what is happening with Martin Sheen.”

My gut is telling me that this is a contrived move to give justification on changing gun laws and signing on to the UN Treaty.
