What happened on the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay hotel on the night of October 1st? We know Stephen Paddock opened fire on 22,000 country music fans below, injuring 500, killing 59. What we don’t know: the timeline of events (it keeps changing). Or whether the NRA is right to tell the ATF to “do its job” and regulate bump fire stocks. Dan and RF discuss in the podcast below.

  1. Are these going to be youtube only “podcasts” or will I be able to download them using my podcast app on my phone?

    • I don’t object too much to calling a mass murder a spree killing.
I do object to calling it ‘shooting’ as the rest of the media has been doing.

    • Ragnarredbeard,

What would you prefer that it be called? For me, spree killer is 20.7 times better than active shooter. I despise that term, and gun violence and gunman are #2 and #3.

Also, spree murderer doesn’t roll off the tongue.

  2. Please stop using the murderers name. Lets not give that POS any acknowledgement then we have too.

  3. “We know Stephen Paddock opened fire on 22,000 country music fans below”

Do we? He was supposed to have filmed himself doing it. Anyone know if that can be viewed anywhere?

    • I am not convinced Paddock was pulling the trigger(s). Way too much weirdness with this event.

  4. Why not go all Obama on the perp, police should have the ability to snuff the dude with a small drone strike. 32 stories no problem. Simple armed drone that could fire on him or go kamikaze and fly in and boom.

  5. The a hole murdered 58 people. 59 includes the a hole doing probably the only good thing he ever did — remove himself from the planet. Too bad he didn’t do it 20 minuted earlier.

  6. Good first outing. Needs a bit of polish and definitely needs a fact checker minion but it’s a damn fine start for a podcast.

  7. What we don’t know: …whether the NRA is right to tell the ATF to “do its job” and regulate bump fire stocks.

What? Yes,we DO know. The NRA was wrong. Very, very wrong.

  8. A podcast. Nice. TTAG should have a video commentary like louderwithcrowder or ben shapiro weekly.

I’d watch it. You could have political talk as well as reviews and new products.

    • ” TTAG should have a video commentary…”

They’ve done ’em, in RF’s garage around the poker table. At the time, they implied it would be a regular thing…

  9. Miking issue (or is it?): Robert’s voice was quite a bit louder than Dan’s voice.
OK, maybe Dan just talks quietly; but I had to turn the volume up to hear Dan clearly, and that was much louder than the volume needed to hear Robert clearly.
Can you maybe get it remixed post-production so the same listener volume setting works equally well for both voices?
