Colt has teamed up with Cooper Firearms of Montana to add two more bolt guns to  the M2012 family: the “M2012MT308T” and “M2012LT308G/M2012LT260G.” Made by Cooper for Colt, these new rifles feature the Cooper Arms repeater action with integral M1913 Picatinny rails, a 3-lug bolt, and 60° bolt throw. They also feature a custom fluted, match grade barrel and a single stage, adjustable Timney trigger. A signed, serial numbered and dated test target is included with each rifle. I fired both on range day and was very impressed with the overall feel, performance, and quality . . .

The M2012MT308T features a Manners composite stock made from fiberglass and carbon fiber, a spiral-fluted 22-inch match-grade 1-in-10 stainless steel barrel. The M2012MT308T weighs in at 10.25 pounds and measures 44 inches long. MSRP is $3,195, but expect street prices to be less.

The M2012LT308G and 260G are designed for hunting.  The only difference between the two models is the caliber (.308 Win with 1-in-10 twist barrel, vs. .260 Rem with 1-in-8 twist barrel). The rifles come standard with custom gray laminated hardwood stocks.  These rifles are feature the same adjustable Timney triggers, and 22-inch match-grade chrome-moly steel fluted barrels. Both rifles weigh in at 8.5 pounds without the magazine and measure 44 inches in length. MSRP is $2,795.

All of the M2012 models utilize five or ten round steel detachable magazines.  The ones used by COLT at SHOT Show 1214 were Made by Accurate Mags, which I understand to be factory OEM for these rifles.

  1. I think the rifles look great and are probably wonderful. I can see this being better for some government agencies who may already deal with Colt as they can expand their buys from a vendor who has already been vetted and approved by procurement people. Maybe helps on support costs as well. But I am not a government, just your standard rifle loony.

My problem is that if I was going to drop $3k on a rifle, why wouldn’t I just go directly to Coopers? Seems like Colt is simply buying them out and adding nothing to the product except their logo. Am I missing something?

    • The last time Colt was in the bolt-action rifle biz, its rifles were made by J.P. Sauer & Sohn. My guess would be that Colt wants to be able to provide its police agency customers a full product line, so it can sell “package deals.”

      • Well I will give points to Colt for their choice in business partners. Sauer makes great rifles, as does Coopers (the few I’ve shot vs. the many I’ve lusted for).

    • For police work I agree. Since most police shots aren’t farther than 100 yards.

Millitary, competition and assassination require better hardware than your run of the mill Remington 700

    • Cooper is obviously to stupid or naive to run even a garbage truck.

Wonder what he thinks of Obuma now.

    • Cooper sold his interest in the company out after the Obama debacle. Wilson rifle barrels purchased the company.

    • You’re an idiot. Dan Cooper has had nothing to do with the company since he sold it in 2009. Don’t be another sheep in the herd.

  2. The Licensing Act 2003 (Description of Entertainment)(Amendment) Order came into force of the 27rth June, effectively removing (a) theatre and dance events of up to 500 people and (b) indoors sports events for up to 1,000 people held between 08.00 and 23.00 from licensing law and reducing the list of regulated entertainment ion England and Wales. Further, mixed martial arts will become licensable as boxing or wrestling entertainment as opposed to being an indoor sport.? The Order does not reference proposed changes to live music or recorded music and a further consultation is still expected in respect of proposals to partially deregulate community film exhibitions
