Thanks to its great trigger, reliable function, and notable accuracy, Walther’s PPQ series has been a huge hit. But it’s a big gun that’s less than ideal for concealed carry. Walther’s aiming to fix this with their new-for-2018 PPQ Sub-Compact . . .

It’s everything shooters like from the PPQ, but less filling.
Not that it’s capacity-challenged. The PPQ SC ships with a flush-fitting, 10-round magazine and an extended, 15-round magazine. It shoots just like its big brothers.
Will it run with standard PPG mags (a-la shooting G17 or G19 mags in a G26)?
Yes and no. From what I have read, the standard Q mags need a different spring. Walter upped the cycle rate, so the stiffer spring is supposed to be able to keep up.
Looks bizarre with that small grip
They had one of these at my LGS, KyGunCo-I think the rep was there too, when I picked my Sig P365. Its got a better trigger than the Sig, just like the regular one, but the stark difference is the size, notably the width. Looking at the Sig mag, its not magic or anything, its a tiny bit longer, but using that last inch to narrow to a single stack feed just completely changes the frame/slide size. I’ve gone through roughly 500 rounds on the Sig, its been 100% so far, even with about 50 rounds of xtreme defender which seem to be the ones with an issue I’ve seen. As soon as my Kydex shell comes in I’ll be replacing my Kahr CM9 and probably my FNS-C with it. I do like the Kahr is so light, its about the same weight loaded as a loaded CZ-P09 Mag by itself.
I’m intrigued by the P365. It’s just slightly larger than my P938SAS but holds more rounds. If it proves reliable it might replace my G26.
probably a nice gun. just have a feeling i’d walk out of the store with a gen5 G26 instead.
Um, you are supposed to buy both!
Looks about the same size as the HK VP9SK.
It’s roughly the same size, a bit smaller, 1/8th or 1/4 of an inch shorter. The HK’s kind of big, I had one for a while, and its not really any smaller than the FNS-C or 1st gen M&P compact, both with 12 rounds.
I didn’t have them all together, but the Walther has about 90% pinkie dangle.
Looks like a quality pistol but seems like their late to the party. Who doesn’t have a gun in this size already ?
It rounds out the line- someone who already has a PPQ and likes it might well want a complimentary but smaller gun, but this holds more than a PPS M2 at the expense of being wider. With the extended mag you can really use this size weapon to pretty much replace a compact if you desire.
I could imagine Walther pitching this to a Euro agency with the PPQ as the duty weapon and this for when a more concealable option is desired. HK has done similarly with the P30 and P30sk, and SFP/SFPsk.
It’s the P99sc with the PPQ trigger, right? No idea why people act like it’s a revolution. It’s upsetting that they didn’t do this 5 years ago.
Looks like a slightly aesthetically different G26.
I’m a huge fan of the PPQ. The 5 inch is one of my carry guns. This gun would be a great pocket gun, but it needs to have 12 round mags (similar to the Glock 26) as that would TRANSFORM the gun. The 10 round mags are too small for that perfect grip and the 15 round mags are too big (for pocket carry). Of course. if you are gonna holster this bad boy then rock on, but I prefer a larger gun on my hip.
In my opinion, the PPQ is the perfect carry gun. I’ve carried it for several years now and haven’t even thought about switching. Not a big fan of the dangling pinky.
