McDonalds french fries
Bigstock

Have you ever been so “hangry” that, even with food in hand, you’d threaten lethal force over some missing french fries? Most of us haven’t, but in a land of fruits and nuts, anything is possible. That’s exactly what happened in a Northern California McDonald’s earlier this month as a mother put on a poor parenting clinic while simultaneously proving that just because you have the right to bear arms doesn’t mean you demonstrate the disposition to do so responsibly.

On Friday afternoon, December 6, officers from the San Pablo Police Department responded to a local McDonald’s where a woman was apparently so upset over missing french fries from her order that she was threatening fast food workers with a firearm. As if her behavior wasn’t bad enough, the incident played out right in front of her children, according to police.

Police say the unidentified woman exited the store after making her initial purchase but sent her young children back into McDonald’s to complain about the missing fries. Employees reportedly asked the children to have their mother come back into the store with her receipt so they could resolve any discrepancy with the order. That’s where this story goes completely sideways.

The “hangry” mother confronted the McDonald’s employees, threatening to attack them and announcing she had a gun in her purse. Officers arrived shortly after, and the woman admitted she was carrying a loaded pistol in her purse, which she was having her 9-year-old daughter hold for her. No, I’m not joking at all. Police retrieved the purse from the young girl and secured the firearm.

The mother, aside from terrorizing not only the McDonald’s employees but undoubtedly her children also, was arrested and booked on multiple felony charges, including criminal threats with a firearm and child endangerment.

“She had to wait even longer for her food, which unfortunately was a sandwich and milk rather than a hamburger and fries,” the San Pablo Police Department wrote in good humor on its Facebook page.

I can’t even begin to imagine the thought process behind this woman’s actions and the abject negligence to do this in front of her children, while leaving her 9-year-old daughter in possession of a loaded firearm. At some point, most people who frequent fast-food restaurants will see an order come out wrong, and most of the time, the restaurant will get it right if you just bring the issue to their attention. Even if they still struggle to correct the issue, carrying a gun is never a means to get people to behave the way you want them to.

Most gun owners carry and use their firearms legally and responsibly, but beware of a false sense of empowerment that seems to intoxicate and bring out the worst in some people. Make sure you don’t let that happen to you.

  1. “The unnamed mother was charged with making criminal threats with a firearm and child endangerment.”

    No name? Perhaps Kareneesha?

  2. The tags attached to the story would indicate that the woman was legally carrying, but nowhere in the news story is that mentioned.
Maybe a ” Stupid things that stupid mouthbreathers do ” tag would have been more appropriate

  3. The flavorless seed oil sticks that are McD fries aren’t worth it, ma’am.

Beef-tallow fried Ore-Ida crinkle cuts, on the other hand…

  4. Who TF eats at MacDonald’s these days? Oh, the kind of person that would threaten others over fries.

I avoid garbage food purveyors, and have for over two decades. Don’t eat this crap.

    • I did on Christmas Eve. First time in at least six months. I didn’t feel like cooking that night as I was seeing family the next day.

My son an I do eat Hungry Jacks (our local franchisee for Burger King) more often. A double-whopper meal is very filling.

    • She should only lose her 2A rights if a court of law decides to put her in prison or a mental institution.

If she’s too dangerous to have a firearm, then she’s too dangerous to be out mixing with the rest of us.

Maybe there could be another way, but if we’re going to respect her constitutional rights, we can’t take away her rights forever.

I know, I know…she’s a horror show. I get it. But THIS is how we all end up losing our rights over things like red flag laws.

  5. One wonders what happened to the 9yr old?

As to motive for threatening workers with a gun? Maybe the hope of the threat was just to get a free order of fries? Who is going to ask for proof of purchace, under the circumstance?

    • I’ve found if you pre-order on the screens at Maccers, half the time the receipt printer doesn’t work. So getting a proof of purchase can be difficult. The store should have the purchase on record if you can provide the order number.

Best idea, check your order before you leave the counter.

      • We always check our order before leaving the parking lot after using the drive thru regardless of the restaurant. People make mistakes. One true fact though you should never yell and scream at the people making/remaking your food because you never know what little extra they may add. Loogie burgers and floor fries are the special for such occasions.

  6. I don’t agree with what she did, never tell or showsome your gun, nor give it to your kid to hold even in a purse/backpack ect.

But if she paid for the fries McDonald’s did rob her.

Why is there no consequences for fast food restaurants basically stealing money. Which they do all the time. I (not carrying a gun nor threatening anyone) had a manager at what-a-burger scream at me and have security throw me out and threaten to call the cops to trespass me for going inside with my order and receipt to show them they didn’t give me what I ordered at the drive thru to get what I ordered.

    • Check my comment above. Why I check my order before I leave. McDonald’s is almost infamous for shorting orders. Especially on take away and drive through.

    • 12 Year Old Robbers Shot By Armed Citizen In Texas.

Three boys – ages 12, 13, and 14 – attempted an armed robbery on Christmas night, targeting a 25-year-old man and his girlfriend outside their apartment complex. At first, the couple thought it was a prank because of how young the kids looked, but things turned deadly serious when the boys pulled guns.

The intended victim, however, wasn’t defenseless. He drew his own firearm and opened fire, hitting ALL three of the boys.
🔸 A 12-year-old is hospitalized in critical condition.
🔸 Two others, ages 12 and 13, returned to the scene with non-fatal injuries seeking help.

      • Texas Teens Discover FAFO Is Real.

“Also, FAFO–otherwise known as F*** Around and Find Out–is very real, as a group of Texas teens found out when they thought it would be a blast to try and commit an armed robbery.

Three armed boys were shot by a man they tried to rob outside his home in Texas, authorities said.

A total of four boys, aged 12 to 14, approached the would-be victim, 25, near his apartment on the 12700 Block of North Houston Rosslyn Road in Houston on Thursday shortly after midnight.

The man told police that the boys had pistols, but the man was also armed – and fired at them outside of his Willow Plaza Apartments home.

The adult is said to be cooperating with the ongoing investigation. Even though he was not immediately detained, he stayed at the scene when authorities arrived.

Investigators are determining whether the guns the boys used were BB guns or actual pistols.

  9. Significant Developments in the Assault Weapon Ban Case.

Trying to connect some dots and read some tea leaves, but there is a development in one of the three huge cases we have been tracking before the Supreme Court and this could be really good news. Washington Gun Law President, William Kirk, discusses the matter of Gray v. Jennings, and the fact that this matter has now been sent out to conference on January 10th. This, of course, leads to a bigger discussions about Snope v. Brown and Ocean State Tactical v. Rhode Island, the holy trinity of potential 2A cases before the Supreme Court. There is some significant movement on one of these cases, which could mean more movement on the other cases.
